There has been a large influx of members lately, and also an increase of entries per giveaway. Because of this, I would like to suggest an entries limit. The limit could be based on the length of time a giveaway is open, some static number that is the same for all giveaways, or perhaps even manually chosen by the creator of a giveaway. I understand that this might decrease the chance of someone being able to enter a giveaway, if they have relatively less time to check the site. However, this could still increase the chance of them winning giveaways that they are able to enter, and they will have a relatively larger stock of points to spend at once.

If this, for whatever reason, seems like a bad idea to you, thanks at least for reading.

Well, there is a large number of members, but since registration is closed, there can't be anymore for the time being of maybe or somewhat 2 weeks. I like the idea of a first come, first serve, but it shouldn't be required on all giveaways. Just if the creator of the giveaway if wanted to.

You have to remember that with something like this, there needs to be a clear indicator before you enter the giveaway page that the giveaway is full. What would you suggest?

That's a good point. I would suggest an icon, or simply the phrase "full" next to the number of entries, or next to the name of the game in the giveaway list. Another way would be to move these giveaways from the "Open" category list to a new "Full" category.

Adding a "Enter Giveaway" button to the games in the list page would be nice too.

That idea has been brought up several times banthafodder, and every time it is shot down because it would make it even more likely for people to not comment or even read the giveaway's description.

I had the same exact idea, but it would lead to scripts which autorefresh and join certain giveaways, I think...

I don't think it's a good idea since it would take away the randomness of winning somewhat. It also might encourage bad behaviors, like entering popular giveaways to "trade" their place with someone that's locked out... I think the points system is fine for limiting the giveaways people enter for now.

I don't like this idea. It doesn't solve anything, and will create a "land rush" senario, where only the people who constantly scan the site for new giveaways will ever be able to enter them.

There are already multiple limiters to entries.

  • The higher the price of a game, the point cost, so the fever members who can spare that much and enter.
  • The shorter the duration of a giveaway, lesser the number of people having a chance to notice it and enter.
  • The timing of the giveaway, ones that end in prime times in America and Europe get more entries.

You can be smart about how you make your giveaways, we don't need any other limiters.
