This is not good!

Why are people doing this?

I'm reporting every single one of them. Everyone else should as well.

Jeez that is low. In my opinion they should just be straight up banned without a second chance, same with the people who actually bought the invites as well.

Agreed

Not agreed. The people who buy invites shouldn't get shafted. After all there isn't a rule against 'buying' an invite, only 'selling' one right? I do not see any reason for someone to be out both their account to Steamgifts 'and' a game they paid to join.

Now if said theoretical person later on is an obvious leech on the community, then that should be addressed when it happens.

Even if the rule is only for selling, it is implied that that pertains to buying as well. By actually buying instead of reporting, they're enabling it, and may actually take part in it in the future. If they actually cared, they could have joined the public group, reported it, and someone would probably pass along an invite for their "good deed". But by bypassing all that they show they don't care, want to enable those to degrade the value of a invite by having others sell and buy them, and do nothing to stop it. So yea, I do think the buyers should be condemned as well.

note, that most people in Russia don't know English, so they'll have problems finding a group and asking for an invite. Also they could never read the rules about not selling the invites, because they have never been to this site before.

How many sites do you know that actually condone selling invites? Personally, I can't name one, not saying there aren't any, but I cannot name a single one that allows that. As for finding a group, there is the steam group they can always ask in, which my friends used to get in. Even if they don't know English, they can always use google translate, like we did to read their forum posts. It isn't that difficult to do, especially if you want to get in. The point is to make the effort.

These people don't need warnings. They need bans. Instant bans.

Also increase account value requirement so no diehards get back in (it's a necessary mesure, it not only keeps them out, it keeps new ones from getting it. They have more to lose.)

Ban people who sold/traded them. If they aren't going to bother reading a Sticky FAQ, I doubt they'll read this, and I doubt they'll stop being twats.

Thanks for the link but I still have no frickin' idea what they're saying lol! I say ban them, just because everyone else seems pissed off with them and that isn't good for business... oh, and ban them solely for the purpose of Google translate on this line;

"Con artists / scammers pursued by the curses of the god-ant Im'ashhtytsa administration."

My head hurts.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well, what do you want from a comunity, devoted to cracked steam?
they are finding every way to play the games for free..:)
and this site is one of them.
so banning a couple of accounts won't help. the'll find a way to sell those without you noticing them.
an idea of increasing minimal games cost is good btw. remember all those almost free bundles... i would suggest a minimum of $100

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The fact that they are willing to buy ( I'm assuming there are customers for those ) something that can be gotten for free ( Cult himself goes to forums and just posts bundles of invite codes ) somewhat contradicts with their Cracked Steam approach. On the other hand, the site is not just about that, it's part valid gaming community as well.

i have no idea, where should i search those invites for free. i haven't found, so i entered a group's chat in steam and asked for one. but i would hardly do that if i'm bad at English. and English is not well known in Russia.
also paying $0,5 without any bank cards (e-commerce is either not that good here in Russia) is easy for any scholar.

i think, the main reason, why people don't legaly obtain games is not because they lack money or something, but because it's much easier to get a free/pirated version, than to make a payment abroad.
so one of the greatest features of steam (which is you can easily buy and play the game) is not valid for most people, who want to play here in Russia.

Yes, that site is also realy good for those with legal Steam accounts, and i visit it at times.

No, it isn't. If you dont sell games after. Or if u dont sell invites.

Anyway, i dont see we can find any other solution except blocking csmania users.
