Are PSN gift cards region-locked ?

Title. Thanks on advance for answering :-D

I want to buy one of these for my brother but I don't know if he'll be able to redeem it without problem since he's not from the US.

Yes, they are!

I recently got an UK gift card, but I couldn't activate it on my main (EU) account. I had to create an UK account to activate it. Needles to say I did that and enjoyed my free 15 pounds, sadly I can't merge the account... But I can play the games on my main account! :D

How so ? you gifted the games bought on the UK account to your main account ?

You can't gift them sadly :( .

I created the UK account on the same PS3 and logged in. Then I went to download the games from the store using the UK account. You can play them on your main account, just not download them. The games aren't region locked, just the store.
