Problems with HoMM V

Hi guys.

I'm currently playing HoMM 5 since HoMM 6 it's still unplayable for me and lately the game has massive FPS drops and huge lag.
I never had this issue before and it shouldn't happen at all since my system is way above the recommended specs.
I have a GeForce 285GTX, all drivers are up to date and so is Windows (7 x64).
The game version is 1.60
Any ideas on what might cause this? I don't have any problems with other games except HoMM 6 (same issue but this was like this since day 1).

whats the problem you have with 6 exactly? I had the issue with the freezing town for a looooong time, is it that?

Sorry for my late reply.
I got massive FPS drops when I move the cursor. Even in the main menu the FPS drops to 0 when I move the cursor. At first the game was almost unplayable. Then they released a few patches and in 1.5 (I think) the problems wasn't that bad. But in 1.8 it got worse than it was the first time.
Tried contacting Ubi Support. Bad move. First they said it's the drivers, then that Windows is bad, then that it's x64 issue, then that it's something wrong with my PC and then that the VGA was dying :| When I kept on insisting they and the fanboy community accused of trolling :|

Of course, the video was irrelevant for them since "Fraps is the one actually altering the performance" & "the video might also be fake".

main problem of HoMM 5 is that it is not HoMM 3.

I actually enjoyed 5 quite a bit once they released the barbarian expansion, whatever it was called. I wouldnt say it was quite the same as 3, but still at least it wasn't 4 right???

Must agree on that. I like how the made barbarians magic free race, but ill never forget them what they did to Dungeon...:(

HoMM 3 GOG + WoG + HD patch + 1280/800 <> 1440/900 = :D:D:D

I actually like 5. It's true that it's not 3 but the game is good.
It's not 4 and it could have been worse. Well, it's still HoMM I think.

the big problem with HOMM5 is the progressive change of speed of the game. Became slower turn after turn, late in the game took 5-6 minute to load a turn for my pc, is unplayable

Well, there is the mod for fast IA improvement.
The game is completely different than 3. But I like it too. 6th is another thing...
