I don't agree. With you.

Coming from a country where restricting childrens access to violent and pornographic material has been enforced for decades and being of age to have children in their teens myself, I have to admit she has a valid point. I don't agree with her cannibalism and other such accusations and the lead comparison is not to my taste either, but the thing is parents try to protect their children. And for some reason they are not as protective as they should and could be regarding such videogames, movies, literature and other means of media.

Her speech indicates that not only parents do not care enough, but even the clerks did not care about the regulations the ratings on the products imply. It would of course be nice to know how many of the children trying to access said goods knew about the restrictions that should prohibit possession of those items to them.

Considering this you have the choice of either ignoring it or taking action. She made her decision. And that's not to hate games n general, but trying to allow access under certain conditions only.

It's kind of ironic that such topics cannot be discussed objectively or at least without emotions heating up quickly in a forum like this, a place where gamers meet. The ones who know a lot on the subject of videogames. And of course a forum that is frequented by adults that can take both sides, the gamer and the parent looking back on a personal history of violent and erotic content they consumed.

Politicians for the most part don't know about games first hand, they don't even seem to speak the same language as gamers. And as long as gamers don't calm down and start discussing matters in a way they (the politicians) understand they (the gamers) will by seen as the bunch of weirdos they (the politicians) make us look like. If they don't have credibility in your eyes to talk on the subject of games regulations, don't expect to have high creds on that matter yourself in their eyes.
