Hi! Have you guys purchased sth from aliexpress? I'm just about to buy some bandanas ($3, free shipping). Are there any hidden costs/fees/taxes I should worry about?

I've purchased many stuff from there, no extra cost at all. Just choose a good seller. If applicable, there will be import taxes "by your country", but I don't think a $3 item will have taxes.

They are smart, at least lots of the sellers, they mark items as $20 value, so you don't pay any import fees, even if you payed more.

You're usually allowed to choose to PAY for delivery if you need stuff faster ;-)

Sometimes when I asked for China items, they mark it as sample or gift, for the taxes and stuff

That i suppose is fine, but that is illegal, and if they get caught or you do,it could mean trouble, though i am not sure how easy it would be to get caught, but i know it is fraud,as it is forging the value of an item to avoid taxes.

I am just saying this is a warning that is all

Well then, good luck to them finding the truth. I say, you should not care about it.

True you can not be blamed for sender doing it,i just said it because if they suspect you, then it just more issues to deal with even they can no prove it every item after that you get will be watched.

And i said i am not sure how easy it is to prove,it just a warning because no matter how low the risk maybe,it still a risk,i am not trying to tell anyone not do buy from them, just some people may not be aware of it could get you in trouble.

Also it is not always about proof,if that was the case there would be nobody charged or locked up for crimes they did not do,corruption can be a nasty thing and sometimes those who check your packages are corrupt as shit in customs.I use to send stuff to a friend over seas, and they would with hold the packages, stating they needed to pay more tax as the tax claimed was not the real value of said item,so you either had to pay or not get the item.He finally gave up and just started buying stuff within his country, because the taxes most of the time ended up being way more then he paid for the item,so it was just easier to buy himself.

Anyhow i was just trying to warn people who may not be aware this is not on the up and up,not everyone in the world wants to risk getting in trouble to save a buck.

Also I believe best course of action at if the customs asks you questions is just to dig up the original invoice and give them that. You can't in most places be blamed if other sender writes wrong information.

No hidden fees.
Ordered there twice.
Half of the products were okay, some china trash but the price was cheap as hell.

Some other products didnt pass through customs because the seller fucked up some standarts.
So I found a letter that told me to drive two hours to the next customs station to pick it up.
Was too much effort for ~7$ and they sent it back, aliexpress returned the money.

It's china trash and might not exactly match your expectations. But then again what isn't china trash these days and you get what you pay for...

I have never bought anything on Ali Express but I did on Geek. If Ali Express also have different stores be careful and check the store's reputation first. I ordered something and just 2 of them came, the third one never got to my house.
