I had this problem too. Re-registered with a different email and it worked ok. All seems a bit "hit and miss".

Actually there is a proper solution. It seems there are different logins for Prime and MyIGN so you can change your IGN account but still be signed to the same Prime. To log out follow this link https://login.ign.com/index.aspx, then click log out and then you will see which services you just logged out from. Alternatively clear cookies and browser cache - I always have to do it when changing accounts, kinda annoying. Hope that's it!

I signed up for the trail but it says my account is not PRIME, and when i go to account settings it says:
Subscription Management
You have no subscriptions.
and when i click Click Here to Manage Subscriptions i get this.
You are currently subscribed to the following service(s):
Prime - 7 Day Trial
I tried contacting IGN about this on their forum/board or whatever they call it but i get no reply.
