Remember P.T.? Some still believe it was the best horror game ever made. Sadly it got pulled of the Playstore. A developer now remade the game and ported it to PC. It’s free to download via itch.io:

Since this is not official you might want to download it quick.

Best horror game ever made? It was a small demo. PT stands for Playable Trailer. I know people think it's cool, but I've never heard anyone call or a complete game, let alone the best ever.

I understand that. I am confused by the OP's statement that "Some still believe it was the best horror game ever made."

The phenomenon is called Mauer schauen in german. It's a common writer's technique and TV trope. It refers to the fact that what is not shown is always more interesting than what is actually shown. The name comes from a situation where the characters are peeking over a wall to watch something and the viewer sees their reactions but not what they are actually seeing.

Well known examples of Mauer schauen are Columbo's wife, Howard Wolowitz's mother in Big Bang Theory, the missing film reel in Planet Terror and many others.

Person A: You shouldn't do that. You know what happened in Vegas.
Person B: We don't talk about that.

It's basically the same reason why for many people Firefly will forever remain the best space opera ever.

Are you saying the game that was cancelled is what "Some still believe it was the best horror game ever made?" Because it sounds like the OP is saying that some people are saying PT, the demo/trailer, is the best horror game ever made. And I do not understand that.

Sorry, I do not understand the question.

I'm saying that P.T. get idealized by Kojima fanboys and girls for the very reason that it never became a proper game. That way they can imagine and gush about how amazing and the best game ever it would have been instead of just a walking simulator on a time loop with slightly changing surroundings and subtle horror effects.

Are you a writer or work as a creative in the TV industry? (neither do I but I guess I've watched way too much TV :D)

Because I'm pretty sure there's tons of technical dentist terms I've never heard about because I'm not a dentist.

Ok, you see what I mean then ;) It's a name for a writer's technique / TV trope so I woudn't really consider it Allgemeinbildung nor should it be.

Awesome! I don't have a console newer than a PlayStation 3 so I never had a chance to play this. Thank you for sharing!

"best horror game ever made"

It was a demo of the newest Silent Hill, with a completely new concept (just like RE 7 in the Resident Evil series). Btw, Layers of Fear is very much like it and some people think (myself included) that this 'ever shifting environment' is just confusing and senseless instead of being scary.
