Gave this guy a 4-pack to unpack, he didn't receive his 3 extra copies?

He is lying. Or it could also be a glitch that will solve itself after some time.

i Guess its the same problem as i had. If he activate the game on his account it should give him 3 more copys in his inventory :)

I once had a bug when unpacking. The extra-copy didn't appear in my inventory. But i was connected with the steam extra-software. I tried to connect with browser and then extra-copies appeared.

Where you got this 4-pack?

• Steam fucked up, wait that extra copies pop up

I remember having a gift in my inventory which was labelled 2 or 4 pack, while the gift was in fact 1 of the copies included in the pack (I was not the one who bought and unpacked it). Of course when activated it didn't grant news copies... I can't remember what game it was, sorry.

1st option he is lying, if you got a 4Pack you should know that for sure, you can also check your buy history.

But how you got a tradable/giftable 4pack?
there was an exploit for that, no other way to get one, if you did not used any exploit then you bought a 4pack into your account and received 3 copies, that may say "<'game name' 4 Pack Gift Copy>" on each copy, but it's not a 4pack, someone who had a tradable 4pack know that for sure, because he either used an exploit or traded it, not blaming anyone just saying.

2nd option check this this are copies from a 4pack, but not a 4pack.

Has he tried completely exiting out of Steam and launching it back up?

You have to add the first copy to library, there is no such thing as unpacking a 4pack without redeeming a copy, maybe you're getting it confused with booster packs which have the "Unpack" button :p

thing is some of these "packs" give the extra copies after you add the first copy i think. I had it happen with the Don't Starve Frontier Pack. A friend had to activate his copy before it generated the second copy of Don't Starve Together in his inventory.

Sometimes single games from multi-packs still have the multi-pack title on them, I have no idea why this happens but it has happened to me on 2 separate occasions. I think one was a Spacefarmers 2 pack game and the other was a Trine 2 game. So I was thinking maybe these were the singles from the multi-packs that still held the same title.
I know this is confusing but just my experience.
If you definitely purchased the 4 pack then you know that he is most likely lying but if you got the 4 pack from a trade then maybe you received a single from a multi-pack that kept the original title.

Next time check steamdb package id to be 100% sure, don't trust gift names.

Either he's lying or doesn't know that he has to activate the 4-pack to receive the extra copies.

If hes not willing to show you any kinda of evidence like screenshots of trade history and such I would say hes lying and trying to buy time untill he thinks of something
