I have a Steam Gift of Ghostbusters: The Video Game in my inventory. I'd like to give it away, but it was removed from the Steam Store and so now it isn't even listed in the "Select a Gift" dropdown menu. I've sent in a support ticket but I'm reading now that those generally go unanswered. Is there another way to give this game away over SteamGifts.com?

And even if I did give it away, would it have any value at all since it's no longer in the store? The game is still accessible on Steam, it's just that no new purchases are possible. The recipient would be able to accept and install the gift as normal. But how many points would it cost to enter? And how much contributor value would I earn?

If it's not available any more, that's why it's not listed. The magical faeries that run this site have very short term memories and can only show what they can see on the store. cg will get around to it when he can and readd it at the last known price and the equivalent point value. Please don't try to send it as anything else as it will cause issues for both you and the winner later down the line.

I won't be posting this in any way but the legitimate way, so I'll just wait until it's added back into the system (if ever.)

Thanks for the response, Mittens! :)

Heh, I'm new here. From your response (and thejadefalcon's) about not posting it as something else, it seems pretty obvious to me that this community has been burnt before with that sort of workaround.

Don't worry, if I were going to post it as something else, I would've just done so. I'm here posting because I want to do this the right way :)

Well, eventually, we're going to be implementing a new system. Basically, if you've marked a game as recieved but you don't have it on your account, boom, instant suspension until this is corrected. This will prevent people from trading their wins away. Unfortunately, it means that real gifters and winners will have a mess to go through if the gifter chose the wrong game (intentionally or otherwise). There's also people who will purposefully mark a giveaway for something, say Fortix, but mark it as Battlefield 3 so they can gain $60 contribution value rather than $1. They rarely get away with it, but it's the cases they do that's the issue.

You could make an itstoohardpuzzle and the first solver gets it. Other than that? Nope. You could trade it too.
