Question about Steam sales and give aways

Hey,
I have been around a few days now, so hey all :)
I have check the FAQ and used search but didn't find an answer on the first page. I figured i would start to contribute as as i got money today, but im pretty broke still so will just be using sales while i can. The question is, while your not affiliated with Steam, does your system take current data from Steam when the give away is made? If i give away today will the contribution amount be the normal prices of the game regardless of sales or the current sale prices ? (for both points cost and contribution ammount gain)
