And looking at the price like wtf only 7 euros or smth if the game is as long as a pc then there is no excuse to charge 60 euros for a new game 30 should be enough

I don't understand, maybe cause i'm not a big fan of deus ex, the thing that makes the people be against this game is the fact that they would have expected it to be on pc or cause it's a game on a mobile device?
If it's the first maybe can be ok, maybe they should have said better what the target of the game would have been.
If it's the second case, i don't understand(leaving a part that it's only on ios that can be a problem) why people hate mobile gaming, it's growing and maybe better games are coming. It's not a device itself that makes bad games, every device can have it's good games and also devices with android ios or whatever aren't different from a ds or ps vita or something like that. The only negative thing I can see it's the lack of dedicated controllers cause the touch screen can be uncomfortable to use but this can be solved using some controller for other consoles(i think earlier or later more usable devices will come out).
In the end I'm not an expert in this kind of devices(the only one I ever had lasted one week before some thieves entered my house and stole it... :( ) so i may be missing something.
(...every time i write something i feel like my english sucks...sorry for this)

It is because, after all the bullshit hype, people expected a new Deux Ex PC game. And they come out with this. If it bombs, and judging by the general reaction it will, it will mean wasted money that could have gone towards an actual Deus Ex game. What's the point of even taking something like this to a platform that's universally considered to only be fit for casual gaming?

but generally this kind of game is left to a small part of a company that does not cost so much so i don't think it will affect any future game.

Trying to play an fps without at LEAST a controller is folly. Touch screen fps is failure. The complete lack of power in iOS devices leads to more failure. I just don't understand Square Enix anymore. They set ridiculously unrealistic sales figures to where a game that sold 5 million copies (Tomb Raider) is a FAILURE in their eyes..... and then they announce THIS? They are completely fucking clueless and/or insane.

Long story short:

  1. It's a middle finger to all Deus Ex players because this was a franchise that was born on PC. It is hard enough that PC gamers had need to cope with console bullshit (like bad ports, dumbing down, low res texture etc.) .
  2. iPad lacks controlling capabilities for an FPS game. Even the best FPS for mobile are mediocre at best in comparison to PC games (and i'm not talking about obvious things like graphics, sound or even controls). It just don't work well.
  3. Another thing it is iOS exclusive. Wanna make mobile game? Fine! At least make it available (for Android) because licking Apple balls isn't the best idea if you want any respect(and money) from gaming community.
  4. Same thing happened with Plants vs Zombies 2. The difference is PvZ is a casual light and fun game so putting it on mobile has some sense in it because that is the type of game that you will play for a few minutes in a crapper or in a bus or in a comfy chair etc. But you can't deliver immersion of Deus Ex titles on mobile device no matter how good the game is.

1) I can understand this but maybe it's a small spin off or something like that and they may be working on the real one for pc(I m not so well informed on deus ex so sorry if i'm saying something wrong)
2) Yes the controller can be a problem but you could always plug a ps3 or xbox controller on it(I know that it must come already with something working but maybe the game it's not bad and the controller problem can be avoided)
3) I don't like to support apple and often I find a bad thing that games does not come on android, but, if you think about it, apple has a small amount of mobile devices with which you can test and to which you can target your game so is easier to make a working game, as for android there are a lot of them and when you look at users reviews there is always a problem this is cause many of them are very different and it's not easy to prevent bugs on all of them(I know that pcs are different too, maybe android has to mature a little bit and developers has to focus more on global apps)
4) Yeah what they have done with pvz sucks but again, i don't think this means that the next deus ex will be on a mobile device, I prefer thinking at this version like a marginal part of the series that have a different target and that you may want to play just to have a little fun(not something immersive or whatever) and use characters that you may know and like.

1) Versions on the other platforms may be coming but still they teased like crazy, everyone was hyped about new DE game(for PC/Consoles) and surprise! iOS exclusive.
3) Fragmentation on Android is a little development hell and some risks comes with territory(for devs and consumers) but still that didn't stopped Rockstar and their Max Paine and GTA ports for Android and iOS.
4) I get it but nobody really believes they will succeed. Execution aside AA(A) FPS PC franchise spin-offed on mobile isn't aiming for specific and niche target. It is almost creating one.

1) Teased like crazy? That one trailer that came out a day before? Seriously, I was hyped more for Human Defiance than this.
3) Didn't they confirm an Android version?
4) It's just like any other mobile spin-off of an AAA title. Arkham City had one and nobody seemed to care. And it's not a PC franchise anymore. If they can provide a good game with nice controls people will buy it, especially for that price.

Touch controls for FPS games are quite imprecise and you keep blocking the screen with your fingers. That's also the reason why many other genres are not suitable for touch controls.

1 decade ago

Well, for one thing they showed a third person mode, so this is not really an FPS. Also, playing normal FPS on mobile I've never blocked the screen with my fingers. They're at the bottom corners normally, and while this obscures these particular regions, most of the action is up front, and there's no problem with seeing that. Also, even in games where my hand technically obstructs the screen, such as Plants vs. Zombies, I've never really had a problem with that. I enjoy that game more on that tablet than when played with a mouse.

I agree that touch isn't perfect for simulating a controller, because it's less precise and doesn't provide tactile feedback, but done right it's not that bad. Deus Ex: The Fall seems to be attempting to do interesting things with controls, which might or might not work, but I'm happy that they're trying to advance this area.

Maybe blocking the screen isn't that much of problem on tablets, but it certainly is on smaller devices. Games like PvZ actually work well with touch controls since the controls in those games are simple and don't require you to use 2 fingers simultaneously. PvZ also doesn't require you to constantly keep the fingers on the screen.

Making Deus Ex: The Fall for Android would make more sense since there are some devices/systems dedicated to gaming (OUYA, Nvidia Shield).

Well the do plan to release it on Android. However it looks like it's designed for touch, so transition to controller based devices will not be trivial.

I agree that on smaller devices thumb controls might hide more of the action, but with phones constantly growing larger I think the distinction between phone and tablet is blurring.

Of course I mind when they ruin one of my favorite franchises.

This fuck-up will cost them my money (and I'm sure the money of many other fans) in case they decide to make another Deus Ex game for PC.

Ruined? Just consider it a standalone mobile game that you'll never play and be done with it.

And no, I'm pretty sure most people won't boycott a future PC game because in the gap between major titles they decided to make a mobile game.
