help me ID this game (adventure point n click games 90s)

I remembered playing this game in 90s, i think around monkey island 1 and 2 era.
It's about an adventure game where we play as a woman, which trapped in a murder case and i forgot how it all evolves, but in the end it was some kind of gag ala Michal Douglas' The Game, iirc the game showed that there was never a murder, it was all a big fun hoax targeted at the main character.

I think it was titled "Phantasm" but whenever i googled phantasm pc game, i get redirected to the cult movie pc game instead lol. anybody can help me out on this?

it was also 256 color game iirc, was out on floppies, the 5.25" ones(?)
another thing i may be mistaken, the game was played out on the main character's pov, we never see the main character in the screen at all (maybe in cutscene, but not in game afaik)

i think not, i played it in computer, on either dx386 or the 286 pc

the main character was also non-white, either an african-american woman, or spanish.

definitely not phantasmagoria, phantasmagoria was released on cd when movie adventure cd was booming, the game i remembered was from floppies era, so maybe it was early 90s or late 80s. i am dying to find out the game title in hope to catch it in abandonware to replay it. thanks for the efforts though

the sierra game? not it also, but it does resemble some, the first person view, but the story was almost a copy of michael douglas the game, instead of post apocalyptic. thanks,

Only other games I can think of is one of the Kings Quest games....possibly your only remembering a portion of one of the temple of doom game which you could control the female at some parts.

Does not match some of the other points though, not 256 color, etc.
