Most probably a scam, had it happen today but just ignored the friend invite. Guy really wanted to trade atleast "one time" though which is suspicious (he wrote that in profile comment) funny thing is I havent traded for years now and don't have any trades active on any site.

Curious to know what they actually want.
Scam you of your game keys and inventory items. As simple and sinister as that.
A few things I did helped curb getting these spam messages:
Stay safe.

I've actually got my profile wall public because I request that anyone adding me on Steam drops a message there with the reason. The scammers never pay attention to that, and most real people do. Those that don't, I can typically guess why they're adding me, or I'll just ignore the request if I can't guess.
Checking a user's past username history and groups are also great tip-offs.
But I'm also very anti-social on Steam, so anyone requesting a friend add from me is already suspicious to begin with.

This is almost the only scam people try on me. It's pretty much the exact same text and their profiles are low level and always have trash/few/free games.
As they say on Steam forums "Block and move on".

I did have some guy messaging me with very similar text. I mean naturally I just filter it to be spam either way but he was very persistent.
Kept on saying he will send the key first (over email, no gift links). Had a list of games he has already ready. Also a list of games he wanted. Asks me to choose which games would I want in return for one specific. At least almost made me believe :D Had a decent preparation and didn't really have some unrelated links or whatever.
I answered him now and then to see what he wants, but eventually stopped. Then he came back after a month or two with same text but with different list of games :D Asked him what's up with that, he said that he traded some already :D
But I suppose he got bored with me as I didn't give him any emails or keys.

Hmm email? Maybe thats what the actual phising target... after sending your email they might send something like "your steam account has been hacked! Protect your account by login to this scam site"

Anything that requires you to effortfully go out of your way with an arm and limb to satisfy their needs is a most definitely a scam, such as:
"Hey, fakegamer#69 here, I recently join x esports league, can you vote for my y team at z (phishing scam link) for dota2/csgo/valorant?"
"Hi, I am looking to unlock poker night at the inventory items for team fortress 2, and noticed that you have it in your library, may I have them by you providing your details (phishing scam)"
"Heya, My name is femboybait#420, I am new to steam, Idk how to level up my steam profile, can you please spare some badge sets to lvl up (begging scam)"
"Hi, my name is Indiedeveloper#225, I would like you to promote x game on your profile, just click on z(phishing scam link) and have it featured on your profile thanks"
It's honestly amazing how Discord can have pending invites yet steam still doesn't have like a message request feature on why you are adding them without the need to commenting on their profile. General rule of thumb is to never add under lvl 10s and nickname everyone you know personally.

I keep getting friend invites from people with this text in their bio:
"Hello, I am looking for people who use/have used humble bundle, so I wanna ask a few question about it and maybe exchange a few extra games, no links, spam or other suspicious stuff. So please accept a friend request, much appreciated :)"
I have 3 profiles who have added me with this same copy & pasted text. Has anyone accepted these and talked to them? Curious to know what they actually want.
