Hi everyone,
I just joined and started my first giveaway. I have a few keys that give you two copies of the same game and will be giving them away (in fact my first giveaway is one of those keys) and I thought I'd ask here if anyone had any suggestions if those keys should be handled in a certain way. They give you a copy for your account as well as a gift copy (which users can offer here again :D), but it is only one key that has to be activated on one account. Personally I can't think of a way around the problem to make it two giveaways or mark it as something "special". Any ideas?
Also, I still have a bunch of Team Fortress 2 keys. Does anybody know if they still actually do anything now that it's free to play?

Hmm. I guess that would depend on what you wanted to do with them. You could add a stipulation that they put the extra copy up as a giveaway, I think the best method for doing that would be make a private giveaway, and post a link in the forum explaining the extra rule. Also, regarding TF2, are you talking about game CD keys or those keys that do something in game?

The Team Fortress 2 keys are actual CD keys. They would have activated two copies of Team Fortress 2 when the game wasn't free to play yet. I'm not sure if they still do anything - I'm quite sure I have some special items because I actually bought the game, but I don't play it anymore so I'm not sure.

Theoretically they would unlock premium account status

TF2 still has an actual "Premium" status for people that bought the game or bought an item. It allows more backpack space and access to the full set of craftable items.

How did the OP manage to get himself banned already?

By a misunderstanding. I am back now, though ;) However, I have to think long and hard about starting another giveaway...

The thing is this: I can't really verify if the keys are still active. They are on promotional cards from gamescom 2010. When the winner of my first giveaway tried to redeem the code, he was told the key was already redeemed. Understandably he flagged me as a fake. We sorted the whole thing out and I provided him with another key, which worked. So either the key got activated somewhere else, maybe using a keygen or something, or the cards can actually expire (but nothing on the cards indicates that). So if I open another giveaway, I can not guarantee that the key will work, which is a shame since I have some nice stuff (for example Left 4 Dead 2 and Borderlands). Until I can work out a way to distribute they keys without getting myself banned again I won't post any giveaways for them.
Anyway, thanks for the information about the Team Fortress 2 Premium status thing ;)

You should raffle those TF2 keys if you don't want em. I'd like to have a shot at premium TF2, fella.

After thinking this over for some time, I decided to give away my codes in a private giveaway. The way I understand they work is that they are invisible on the front page, but I can post the link to them in the forum, right? If so, that's exactly what I will do. I need everyone to understand that I can not guarantee the codes will work. I am quite sure they cannot expire, but there is no guarantee for anything. If you win and the code does not work, you will be out of luck, sorry. I would very much appreciate it if you did not get me banned in that case - you will have won nothing and screwed everyone out of my other giveaways. I will repost the rules when I actually open my giveaway tomorrow. I will do so in a new thread to maximize exposure.
