I definitely know the feeling. I used to read 3 or 4 different web comics and any time I would go without internet for a while it was such a pain to catch up.
I also play games on Kongregate, and I absolutely hate going even a day without getting the badge of the day, it feels like I'm missing out on free money.

Only few days without Internet? Two or three years ago I couldn't use the Internet for 3 weeks because of some stupid breakdown.

I used to have HughesNet satellite internet, and that is worse than having no internet because it gets your hopes up and then smashes them to pieces. On its best day it ran at roughly dial-up speed. You had a daily usage limit (ours was roughly 300 or 400 MB per day) and if you went over that limit you were kicked down to slower than dial-up speed for 24 hours. We're talking about downloading something at 250-300 kb/s on a good day, and down to about 100 kb/s on a bad day. Occasionally we got the dreaded 30 kb/s speeds that were just absolutely terrifying.

So let this be a warning to all of you out there: Do not think that having slow internet is better than having no internet, because with incredibly slow internet you are basically paying just to be able to check your email.

I know this feeling. My ISP is currently "upgrading the infrastructure", so sometimes it's worse than dial-up. Thank God there aren't any usage limits.

Yeah, very few companies do have usage limits now, but most of them that do have a monthly limit rather than a daily limit. I knew someone who went over their monthly limit and had to spend 2 whole weeks in slower-than-dial-up speed.

Now, that's not a particularly good example. If there's a zombie apocalypse then we may not have power for entertainment, but instead we get to experience the joy of hunting zombies.

There's more to the internet than just leisure activities. If there's an internet outage, then I can't access my school's website. There are course components that I can only get to online.

This. I also get 100% of my income via Internet, so it's kinda crucial to have the connection up. But then again, if it's down for a day or two it doesn't have any massive impact - other than that I just hit the beach or the bars.

Same here. I have to use the internet to register for my classes (even the hard copy of the registration form is printed off the internet) and some of my classes require turning in assignments through the internet.
