Great way to get free stuff tho :P

Thanks for your pre-order of Crucible.
A while ago, you pre-ordered Crucible from Amazon Games, and we wanted to send you a gift for your early support!

You can download Crucible for free on Steam right now.

And later today, you'll get an order confirmation for your gift: The Alpha Hunter Founder's Pack, a $49.99 value that will give you a head-start in your Crucible rewards.

Dear Amazon Customer,
Today, we're making New World available for pre-order again.

You were one of the first customers to order New World, and you ordered it when it was free-to-play.

Your order is still good, and your price – $0.00 – is still good also.
As a pre-order customer, you're still eligible to participate in the pre-launch closed Beta test of New World, so stay tuned for more information on your order and the Beta test.

Thank you for your enthusiastic support of New World.

it's more like free demo. You don't get access to meat of game (track making, user made tracks) without subscription and only 25 built in levels.

Let me help everyone:

pre·or·der
/prēˈôrdər/
verb
order (an item of merchandise) before it is available, with the understanding that it will be shipped later.
noun
an order for an item that has not yet been made commercially available.

Somehow, people connect the word pre-order (read "order" again, but slowly) with payment.
I don't know exactly why and even how, but they do.

how pre-order a free game? xD

the same way you order a free game on steam, but antecipated, because that's why the "pre-" prefix exists.
maybe some become able to understand when the "steam" word is included in the explanation.

So I'm still confused, everyone is saying this is a F2P game, and I can see from news announcements that there's expected to be a F2P tier.

But then on the Ubisoft store, the cheapest option shows up as "Starter Edition" for $10?
https://store.ubi.com/ca/trackmania-standard-access-1-year/5e14dc8a5cdf9a1ec45ad81f.html?lang=en&edition=Starter%20Edition

The EGS version is also labelled "Starter Edition"
https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/trackmania/home

The only difference I see between the two is that Ubisoft's mentions a whole year while the EGS one doesn't mention any timeline (other than new season every 3 months)

Does anyone have the actuals details or are we just speculating that this is the F2P tier?

I think they made a mistake on the Ubi Store, where it says "starter" it should say "Standard". There are 4 options but only 3 payment tiers on the store:

In the Uplay launcher it does say Standard, Club 1Y, and Club 3Y for all the paid versions. Can't see the Starter version at all, but I guess that's the one for free on Epic?

So they really gonna call the new game just Trackmania, with no subtitle nor a number, I don't get why publishers keep doing that.
Excited for a new entry on the series tho, even if I know the last sets of levels are always unachievably hard to unlock.

Trackmania IS dead since Nadeo sold his soul to Ubisoft ! The last and only real Trackmania will be Trackmania United Forever.

f2p, you say?

Actually it's not a subscription model but an access to the game for a limited time. You pay for having access to the game for one period and that's it," a Ubisoft rep wrote. "When the time is over, you have to buy the game again for the time that you want to access it again."

That's pretty funny, cant wait to pay games by the hour
jokes aside, i assume ubisoft wants to make a niche game more accessible, but little as changed, if you are a fan, in 2 years time you will likely pay the full price of the game in subscription or trial or whatever ubi wants to call it.
And the competitive scene and the real community that edits maps, will have to deal with full year subscriptions until the next game in line comes out, ...the people ubisoft should cater too, since their the ones that keep the game alive
