Historical low on Steam for a base game, i think.

Also, if anyone has played, please tell how much the game needs a Season Pass, it says there are several planes (not interesting) and three additional missions, but are they worth it?

Just looking purely at the numbers is rarely of any value. In this case you'd never actually purchase all of those DLC as several of them are just duplicates of items that are included in the Season Pass so that people can purchase them individually if they prefer. They're also not at all necessary and can easily be skipped over without impacting the game.

Sure as a technicality, but it's hardly like the game is going to be unplayable if you choose not to spend money on some extra planes and three missions.

To be fair, the game itself without the DLC feels 'complete'. If I recall the DLC were additional planes, but those as part of the game itself that you can unlock were plenty, IMO.

A game I'd suggest only getting on the cheap though.
Skies Unknown is infinitely better than Assault Horizon though.

Would people be happier if the base price had dropped to 30€ and they'd do 80% off sales?
Probably not, as the game would be more expensive than it is now.

It's even cheaper on the Nuuvem Store (an official store), the lowest price ever, but it's region-locked, only Latin America (except Mexico, Peru and Venezuela).

Oh I know, I just don't have an easy way to pay for stuff at Nuuvem. I don't have a card that works there, so I have to order games and go pay for them at a convenience store chain called Oxxo, and they charge a fee for paying bills.

So I only buy stuff there during sales. :(

You probably don't really understand what regional prices are and why in some countries prices in third-party stores are never better than directly on Steam, but it's actually good that you have the opportunity to get it cheaper, this is also useful information for someone.

This game is currently $1.79 in my region on Steam. And there are many other countries where it doesn't even reach $3. Tell me where they can buy it for a good price? Steam or GMG? Now you understand why this news is interesting and useful for people from different regions?
Of course, for some, these stores are a good option, I don't argue, but not for everyone.

Oh I see why you see it as a good deal now. You got the lowest price across all regions. Yeah in your case this is probably a good deal. I'm from the US and I can't understand why this is so much for a game from 2019 other than bandai being the publisher.

Sorry if you were expecting some magic or conspiracy theory, but I made this thread solely because it is literally what its title says: the game has a historic low for purchase on Steam. And that's it. And yes, 2019 games are not old. And yes, -92% is a big discount anywhere.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No need to be sorry, I saw the title and 92% and I was like damn it's gonna be like $2, then saw it's one of the publishers who think they're just special. This gets a pass from me until bandai either delists it or they lower the msrp.

It's not that the games are old that they're expired or something, but they're old enough some msrp drop is reasonable and expected or at least bundling. Bandai and Activision are notorious for being like this. No bundling and no msrp reducing their price with the market. If others can do it by either reducing the msrp or bundling their games there's no excuse for these two.

For reference here's some of the best games from 2019:
Outer Worlds retail's at $39.99 previously $59.99
Jedi Fallen Order, $39.99 previously $59.99
Control $39.99 was $59.99
Resident Evil 2 at $39.99 was $59.99 (I think this is unexpected of capcom but we appreciate when they are awake)
Death Stranding $39.99 was $59.99 (another surprise by Kojima)
Gears 5 $39.99 previously $59.99
Metro Exodus $29.99 previously $59.99
DMC5 at $29.99 previously $59.99
Disco Elysium launched at $39.99 but at least they bundled themselves 6 times now
Borderlands 3 is still $59.99 but they at least bundled themselves 4 times already, and I think it's fair to say it's much more complex than Ace Combat by a few miles.
Remnant: From the Ashes launched at $39.99 and it's been bundled.
Shenmue III $29.99 was at $59.99 at launch(on gmg), almost immediately dropped to $49.99.
F1 2019 $29.99 was at $59.99 got delisted eventually to push out a new F1 game cause they all look the same.
Rage 2 $39.99 was at $59.99
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne $39.99 was $49.99
Generation Zero $24.99 was at $39.99

I could keep going but this is all the AAA games google wants to show me

Then you find Sekiro and COD:MW at $59.99 by guess who? (Activision), who is another stubborn dev. So it's Bandai and Activision being the naughty guys again. They're not getting anything for x-mas from me lol.

Now look at Bandai's 2019 game list:
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown $59.99 no change
Jump Force (delisted from steam) they'd rather delete them instead of editing the msrp lol.
One Piece: World Seeker $59.99 no change
Super Robot Wars T $57.99 (switch game? found it on amz) no change I'm guessing or $2 change?
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan $29.99 -> $19.99 ($10 drop for this after they crapped out like 5-6 like it games with the same engine)
Code Vein $59.99 no change
Ninja Box (can't find a price I don't even know where you buy this)
Disney Tsum Tsum Festival (probably switch)
Pac-Man Party Royale (switch I guess?)
Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist $59.99 no change
Doraemon Story of Seasons $49.99 no change
Rad $19.99 no change
Bless Unleashed F2P

So the whole industry can adapt their prices other than Bandai(and Activision). I'd assume you just don't want to admit their fault out of stubbornness or arguing with me if you're gonna sit here and tell me this is normal for the industry just because maybe 2(maybe 3 if you can find someone else) publishers don't do it and the rest of the industry adapts. Obviously that won't hold if you just read above.

It's not like bandai has some higher costs, what their employees eat caviar for lunch dinner and wake up during their nap time at work to eat some more caviar, or like what's the reasoning? You don't gotta defend them they wont give you a second copy of the game or some caviar.

Time to beat the main story of Ace Combat is about 12hr according to hltb so it's also not like there's that much more extra main story or something to justify it. This is average with other AAA games which you can find for less.

To top it off they charge each user $5 for a 3d model of a single airplane. Most people would be happy to to ride hatsune miku's back if she were the airplane(source servers mod enjoyers). There's nothing that amazing about this to justify bandai not lowering it's msrp or throwing all that dlc in the main game already. (This model thing applies to those train games and Sims as well although at least sims gives you like 30 models for $20). Like how long does it really take to model a chair EA?

Here's some free 3d models of planes Bandai:
https://www.fab.com/search?is_free=1&q=plane
https://assetstore.unity.com/search#q=plane&nf-ec_price_filter=0...0

This is purely my opinion but just because something is 92% off doesn't mean it's an amazing deal, especially in the US this deal means nothing unless you've been waiting to play this one specifically, the game is still $5 and you can find much better deals and content for that money. Look at the current games 80%+ discount, 70%+ at least 500 reviews, and then see how almost every single higher priced game in that list is bandai or from 2024 and how they're all like $5+, $7+, $9+ at like 85%+ off(there's always ubisoft I guess too who's still trying to sell 2018's AC for $8 lol). Or sort by discount and look at all the 91%+ games and see how each one is about a dollar or two and then bandai comes in at $4.79. Keep in mind this is specifically Bandai's sale and Ubisofts sale, we're not looking at winter sale deals yet. Like you can't be serious this is a good deal for everyone lol. Maybe if they're all the same price for you or if you already own every other game on that list.

It's hard to read your post about the unfair Namco Bandai when half of the publishers here have the exact same prices as in the US, but you kind of forget that regional prices were invented to equalize the purchasing power of people from different countries. The usual price of 60 bucks here is not the same as yours.

you can find much better deals and content for that money
It's true, there are a lot of really cool arcade flight simulators on Steam for a lower price.

Sorry, I'm really worried about how hard it is for you guys in the US to buy a game for $5, but I don't plan on responding anymore. Please accept my condolences. Or move to us, EVERYTHING is cheap here!

"It's hard to read your post about the unfair Namco Bandai when half of the publishers here have the exact same prices as in the US, but you kind of forget that regional prices were invented to equalize the purchasing power of people from different countries. The usual price of 60 bucks here is not the same as yours."

I never said anything about regional prices like those in your region that they should be equal to the US, you're adding stuff on your own, I think it's completely reasonable in more economically poor nations that the price you pay should be less, and almost always is compared to here however relative to the economy there it's still more expensive there than it would have been in the US in some cases. I'm just explaining for people here and likely everywhere else who wasn't towards your spectrum of price/discount this wasn't the best deal compared to the rest of the market in their area unless they desperately wanted this. It likely was for you since your region across all others had the lowest price price. Maybe you really specifically wanted this game hence why you are defending it so bad.

But you claimed this was a great deal for everyone which is a lie, if other games with better ratings from 2019 much more loved by players are over a dollar lower in price almost across the board despite having the same msrp at launch and being released in the same year. That isn't unfair or wrong to say, it's factual, if you buy something for $2.50 and something for $4.79 the $2.50 is a better deal assuming they both provide the same amount of value(which they do since main stories in these games average around 12 hours, which is what this game is at). When almost all things are $2.50 or lower and you paid for $4.79 it's not the same or a better deal than $2.50. Just because someone slapped a discount on something doesn't automatically make it good either idk what belief system is that but I'm sure someone's selling their trash for 95% off but that doesn't mean you should buy it or that it's an amazing deal for everyone.

"you can find much better deals and content for that money It's true, there are a lot of really cool arcade flight simulators on Steam for a lower price."

Well I wasn't speaking about flight games only so I think you're adding stuff up again but if that's all you can play I did say that for those who really wanted this game then it's a better deal than they got until now. Just compared to the other games in the market released at the same time and with much better ratings it was still overpriced by basically times and a half or more.

"Sorry, I'm really worried about how hard it is for you guys in the US to buy a game for $5, but I don't plan on responding anymore. Please accept my condolences. Or move to us, EVERYTHING is cheap here!"

Why are you so salty lol? Did I say it was hard to afford? Does it seem to you like I can't afford it if I really wanted it? Like if I was desperate to buy it I'd buy it for $60, one look at my account should be enough proof but maybe you don't know how to look. Obviously my backlog is too big to be buying games at $60 that I wont have time to play for years. I'd only get it if I really wanted it. No, I explained that it's 1.5x or more in price vs other games released at the same time, other than activision and seems some ubisoft games which are following a similar pattern to bandai. My complaint was with the discount, it's not 92%, realistically compared to the market it's more like 80%-85%. It's just a fake 92% because they refused to change it's price relative to the rest of the publishers on the market(excluding activision and ubi as well). But 2 or 3 out of 50 publishers doesn't make it half or reasonable, it's still a crappy thing for a publisher to do. It's still badly priced compared to the rest of the market. Also not a lie pretty much factual this game wasn't the absolute best game of 2019(on metacritic for games released from 2019 on pc this is ranked #108). It's likely outer worlds that was the absolute best but there's probably 30 games before this even makes the list. It is a deal for those who wanted it and can't last any longer. We can't justify it's lack of price adjustment with it's better than other games because other AAA publishers on that list have adjusted their game.

Like if other publishers can reasonably adjust their prices and these guys can't, where's the extra money going?(guess you didn't catch the caviar joke I made but it's okay if you missed it). You're buying it at a higher price than the rest of the games of that year so you can funnel the pockets of someone who already has more than they need just because they tricked you into thinking this is the shit and it rarely gets a big discount or a deal hence why you must buy it now or suffer and play something else lol. Is that something that makes you happy and do you not feel played?

You just missed my point and got salty because you feel attacked I made a comparison between other games from that year which points out almost all publishers followed a trend of lowering the msrp as should be normal after 5-6 years.

Also I already have a place, maybe more in the EU thank you.

Take care :)

It is actually wild that the basis of your argument is that not being a great deal because maybe some other game was 95% off, or had its base price reduced. It is a great deal by really any metric other than personal taste and/or desire to own said game. It may not be appealing, but pretending it's not a great deal because maybe some other similarly aged game is cheaper is a poor spot to anchor your argument.

That said, I also don't get why Vic was arguing with shak. It doesn't seem like they were even having the same discussion.

I'm totally cool with us disagreeing I made my point above. I don't consider this to be a 92% because compared to the rest of the market it isn't. It's slightly less than an 88% a bit more than an 87%. I consider 90%+ great deals, I consider 70% to 89% alright deals. Based on this game being rated #108 for 2019 for pc games I'm also going on a hunch it's not that amazing in terms of content. It averages around the same playtime as other games, so it's not like it has extra content either. So what is so impressive about this again? Just that it finally got a discount? To me that's not enough to say it's a great deal for everyone, other than everyone who really wants it and was waiting for a discount and was finally able to catch one.

To me it is only a great deal by no metric other than personal taste and desire to own said game. I also find the publisher to be petty with their games as I showed they don't follow the general industry standard(it's their right, that doesn't mean I need to agree it's the right thing to do, most people dislike how games from 2015 on activision are still priced at like $60, this isn't any different), along with 2 others like activision and ubisoft. But these three are small compared to the rest of the market for me to say this is normal, so I don't agree they should've maintained the same msrp for 6 years, you might like that and think that's what they all should do, we would be disagreeing. On top of all that you add the dlc which is already off putting charging $5 per user for one single 3d model of an airplane. Like what?! The dlc is inexcusably predatory, but again you might like that sort of thing, I don't.

You might consider 80% amazing deals, I don't. We likely differ in opinion, don't see it so wild.

WTF

It's still not clear where his pricing applies, implying it is intentionally left vague.

The only "concerning" part here is the stuff you people make up about a simple sale post.

Here you can easily see that the 92% off apply to EVERY region. And they said that it is a historical low on Steam. Which is also correct. They didn't claim that it was the lowest price ever anywhere.

So OP did everything right, you on the other hand provided nothing but a travesty, only surpassed by reigifts. Crowned by your "concern". What a fucking joke.

Make up? My data is factual please relax. I didn't say they didn't list it at 92%, I did say realistically looking at the rest of 2019's pc games it isn't a 92% since you are having comprehension problems. They could list it at 99% off and put it for $25 and that doesn't make it 99% compared to the rest of the market, nor would it make it a good deal. Their 92% is less than 88% compared to the rest of the market from 2019. They're just faking a number that should normally be different. It's their right, but I find publishers who do that tricky math to not be doing it in good faith for the consumers.

Where are you when those asset flip devs list their game for $199 and put it for 99% off? Isn't that an amazing deal to you or being a little hypocritical just not feeling it because ignorance is bliss? Or you're not gonna take their side but gonna side with bandai who's playing a similar game on a smaller scale. It's okay if bandai alone does it fuck everyone else right?

The joke here is you, a consumer defending a $19 billion company when compared to over 90% of the rest of the market from that year these guys just took another dollar from you for you to tell me this is the best deal compared to the market. A fucking joke indeed.

I don't think Vic did it with bad intentions towards anyone and I appreciate him sharing it anyways for those who can take advantage of it, but for me to say it isn't a good deal to me and for him to then try and push it down my throat like yeah it's a great for anyone anywhere isn't something I'm just going to take.

What is or isn't worth to me is my decision I made based on in my opinion simple math where the difference between this game and over 90% of the rest of the games from 2019 and in my region shows this is higher priced than the rest of them and it would average slightly less than a 88% discount. So any game that got bundled or sold for 90% is automatically a better deal.

Them getting worked over is something that happens a lot when I make a comment. xD

If you have played any of this franchise, specifically those title ending with numbers, and you like it and the gameplay, just get these dlc missions. If you have never played any and wanna try, just get the base game and see whether you like it or not. There is still plenty of time before the sale ends.

These three additional missions are a bit more intense than the main story campaign IMO.
