Try using Origin Beta Client, normal client screws up downloads.

Origin is retarded.

Yeah. It's surprising that updating to the beta client actually seems to lower the frequency of downloading games randomly deleting huge chunks of themselves. More surprising that this bug has been around in Origin for years, and they're still offering up this solution. It can't really be any individual Origin state, otherwise the release of a patch would have solved it already.

They really should look into this, but after two years I won't be holding my breath~

The download speeds are irrelevant if the client deletes your partially downloaded games repeatedly :P

Change your download server, I'm from Israel and downloading from UK - London, works the best :D

People should boycott all EA products in their hate of EA.

Haha, well, the funny thing is that I actually stopped buying EA products once they did the Origin thing (given they were trying to integrate it into everything and I didn't agree with the EULA, I didn't have much choice). Then they caught me out with the EULA by adding it as a click-through along with a patch to one of the games they released prior to Origin. Once you sign on that dotted line, abstaining does nothing, their departments just see a digital "+1" and assume you're perfectly happy with how things are going down.

A boycott isn't as easy as it sounds when they make chunks of it retroactive-

I salute you, @Uroboros, I don't buy any of EA's stuff either unless I get it for free or for a good price :D

My friend had that issue with Dead Space 3 multiple times. Origin updated recently and he downloaded it without a problem.
It happened to me too while downloading it, but just one time and from 80% to 47%, but also before that it had passed from like 40% to 60% magically.

A game gave you a game? Nice!.

About the download speed thing, just let it download while you do other stuff? You don't need it right away, do you?

Origin has never failed me when it comes to download speed. It has always been transferring data at top speed (3,5MB/s), and I can't say that about Steam...
