Example - an FPS game. If you get shot in the leg, your leg actually feels pain, if you get headshotted and die, you fall unconscious until your respawn time.

Yes, although I'm not keen on the unconscious part. Enter a hacked MW2 lobby... aaaaand now I'm unconcious for the next 24 hours. #&@$

Well even if it's not for the entire wait time, but just having the feeling of being physically "knocked out"...

Oh, and as long as they don't implement this.

EDIT: If you're wearing something like an Oculus Rift or are in an inclosed VR container, death could be simulated by completely restricting your vision, aka everything goes dark until you respawn. That could be cool.

I hooked this stabbing machine (not a fisting machine) to my virtual boy and it does EXACTLY the thing you just described there

I kind of like the idea of a virtual reality game, but after having played and watched the .hack// series... and watched Sword Art Online... I can't help but be wary. >> << Yeah, something about so many stories playing into the idea that people will get stuck in a coma IRL and be caught in a game where they can die? Just... seems... Not so appealing. : P

A full virtual reality game is my dream. I could do without the pain and unconscious bit though. Although, now that I think back I remember playing a game at Dave & Busters that had a gun controller on a medium sized stage-thing and I do believe it had a near 360 degree screen. That's the closest thing to full VR I can honestly think of.

Not sure what to think of on anything else, but Arc-V Action Duels look fun. :p
But simulated pains should be at the minimum.

I doubt there will ever be simulated pain in virtual reality. It would be too dangerous. Last thing I would want is some bug, game mechanic or hacker overloading my brain. That and it would scar you for the rest of your life if not kill you.

If this ever happened, I'd delete Super Meat Boy from my hard drive and never look back...

Hell no, i believe it'd be dangerous to simulate pain into ones body and force falling uncounscious :s Can you imagine what it'd be like to feel a bullet through your chest ? even if it doesn't physically happens, i bet shit could happen in your body if you could "feel" it ...

A pal once had a VR-Vest.
You put that around your waist, optional even + Helmet and stuff for the legs. Worked with all Unreal games.
If someone hit you, it made you feel the hit. Was quite fun, though very unrealistic but a "different" kind of experience.

People shouldn't mix reality with games.
