Your personal favorite games of the year?

It's been another big year in gaming, and the big releases are still chugging on out.

My question for you, is what were your favorite games this year? Myself, I'd have to say my Top 3 would be...

  • Portal 2
  • Terraria
  • inFAMOUS 2

As you can tell, you're not limited to Steam. ;) Interested to hear some lists... don't feel limited to 3, as well~

Stronghold 3. I can't stop playing it - literally; it has frozen my other PC and is on constant loop and making shuddering noises.

I have to laugh at this one because in Inzanedude's other thread (Disappointments of the Year), Stronghold 3 was mentioned 8 times.

I have to be honest, I've never played SH3 and I've certainly not paid for it. I've read so many awful things about it, it's not even amusing anymore. I was someone who mentioned it in that thread I think (disappointments)... did you know there are even interface buttons that do nothing when you click them because there's no code linked to them? xD

Dark Souls doesn't deserve to be called a game.

It's just a wonderfully perfect piece of art. Best entertainment piece ever.

I'm gonna agree with you on DCUO. I never even bothered with it because I figured it was just a City of Heroes knockoff but using DC characters. When it became free I figured I would try it out. It is now my favorite MMO out there right now.

If you said favorite game(s) PLAYED this year, then definitely Eve Online and Arcanum. As far as games released this year...
1.WH40K:DoW2 Retribution (love the universe. more than makes up for the not-so-great gameplay)
2.Rock of Ages, Frozen Synapse, Binding of Isaac (3 incredible little games tied for second)

But crap... there are so many honorable mentions that might knock some of those off the list if I was in the right mood (Terraria, LotR: War in the North, maybe some more).

But yes...
