Yeah specially when the game will have -10% introduction offer when it will be released in 3 weeks (edit note: on steam at least)

All three of these options will be available with a 10% launch discount from 23rd October to 6th November 2025

Does humble store usually have introduction offers? I dont usually check them during the release periods.. and to be fair GMG and Fanatical has that "full priced games -15%" coupons so eeeh.
but if the intro offer+coupon and humble choice sale stacks then its great deal

edit: The item says "does not stack with humble store sales"...lol?

Same here. The two from T3 plus Arranger and despelote.
I guess I'll buy it despite the rather high price. And despite most of the other titles being quite uninteresting.

Edit: And bought.

Dreamcore is looking oddly appealing to me... O_o

Maybe I'll check Group Buy for a USD split. Or I won't and will just keep my fingers crossed to see the game rebundled at some point. I'm sure I would get lost and probably ragequit but even so, I still feel very intrigued by that one.

I'm tempted, only thing putting me off is price tag feels a little high.

I would keep
Arco
Enigma of Fear(cautiously curious about this one, overwhelmingly positive is helping me push my concerns away)
Keylocker(actually have it wishlisted)
Kulebra
and Arranger

already have bunny graveyard, 9 years of shadows

Are they taxing the entire amount or just the part that isnt charitable?
Because the tax is significantly lessened for me if I move the charity amount to the max

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The entire amount; they add 16% of the US price on top, before they take my money. So the bottom tier is $9.28 instead of $8.

Even if I set everything to charity, I still get charged $9.28. I'm not sure it's actually legal in my country.

Humble has started to raise the price of bundles in some countries, like my own, by the amount of our regional sales tax. In my case, it's 16% on top of the price.

They do this instead of charging the tax on checkout. It feels... kinda scammy somehow.

this is cause they can no longer claim charity with 100% to charity bundle sliders.
would buy dirt cheap bundles of games i never wanted from them and kick it all to charity for a long time

I don't know how I feel about this one, like the games I don't own look like games in one of those 600+ bundle of games from itch.io. Nothing necessarily wrong with them, cool someone is making experimental things, they just give me NewGrounds/Miniclip vibes. I'm missing 7 and for $20 I might bite, but maybe I'll pass since I kind of have the best games here already.

On a side note, I'm a little disappointed by the ratings steam has on these games, as nowadays every bundle has 8 games with a 99% overwhelmingly positive games you never heard of that are suddenly in a bundle for 75% off less than a year after launch. People are extremely kind with their ratings nowadays, like I don't think these games are even in the top 1000 on steam(edit: I went and checked, it's #4206 for Enigma). Enigma of Fear for instance started with a 6k peak, has around 20-60 hours of content according to reviews played time, and yet it's at a 35 peak for the past 24 hours with currently 33. Yet it's a 95% overwhelmingly positive game. If Enigma was a Ubisoft game it would be sitting at 45% right now. It's a game made by a studio with 58 people(according to google) with an extra producer or something no clue who the guy is. Morally it seems wrong to fake these scales. People are acting like at the end of the day they'd operate differently if they were Ubisoft/EA/CDPR/FS/Capcom/Nintendo/whoever, etc.

PS: I'm using Enigma of Fear as an example, the rest are the same, so are games in other bundles recently. Like, what happened? Is everything just so amazing now or we cannot differentiate anymore between things like great/good/mid/bad/awful?

At least this one is a bundle compared to whatever fanatical was thinking yesterday.

People have a lot of compassion for indie studios. Most "Overwhelmingly Positive" indie games are pretty mediocre in my opinion.

number of active players is kind of irrelevant in the long term for single player games, people beat it and generally don't go back.

that stat is really only useful to see how well a multiplayer game is still doing and how a game is being received at launch before reviews.

I want to say fair, but consider for instance Star Wars Outlaws, pretty dead game, 72% ratings overall with 4064 reviews, 65% recently and 330 reviews, 261 players in it right now, 389 players 24 hour peak, 3397 all time peak with an msrp of $70. Around 30 hours to beat the game unless you're going for 100% which would take around 60-70 hours supposedly.

Then look at Arco 96% overall with 1730 reviews, 96% recently with 89 reviews, 12 playing right now, 15 players 24 hour peak, 160 all time peak with an msrp of $20. Around 11-13 hours of content, with a 19hr(1 single run) 100% run.

Both released around the same time, Outlaws being slightly newer by 3 months. Star Wars Outlaws has 21.75x the current players of Arco, 25.93x the daily players, and 21.23x peak all time players. However, somehow Arco has 1730 reviews, while Outlaws has 4054. Outlaws only has 2.34x more reviews than Arco although it dominates it in player numbers, and it is dominated in review score. Not only that, Outlaws is 3.5x the price of Arco.

I don't know if this is just some sort of massive review score fraud by these games, or what else is going on. Like, these ratings are not even close to what the reality is imo.

Star Wars outlaws has 6064 reviews tho, you copied the first digit wrong, so Outlaws actually has 3.5 times the reviews Arco has.

Still, trying to boil down games purely into numbers might be the wrong approach altogether, it's useful for filtering and finding potentially good games but eventually you'll start running into things that can't be quantified like personal taste or public perception of any given company. If you look at it from a purely human perspective it makes perfect sense that people are gonna be a lot harsher with a AAA title put out by a major publisher that also happens to be part of one of the largest and most recognizable franchises in the world than some random indie game that isn't part of a larger series and was made by someone you've never heard of, one comes with a truckload of baggage and expectations while the other is just some nice little gem you came about by random chance and you're pleasantly surprised by what it does.

Star Wars Outlaws also has IP recognition, an advertising budget hundreds if not thousands times bigger. so it will also likely have an audience that is far less likely to review it(double it that some people are likely more neutral towards the game to.. and they don't want to give a negative or a positive score).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Star Wars is literally one of the greatest IPs, in a genre with mass appeal and you yourself documented that Outlaws is the bigger game with more time required to finish it. With all that established, who would be surprised that Outlaws has more players?

You are right that Steam ratings are flawed, both for indie and big studios.
But that's why you can check reviews, be they written or videos. And then you should be able to easily register that these are nothing like the "600+ bundle of games from itch.io".

Welp, there are a lot of indies nowadays, for all tastes, and if you are a normal person you can't possibly hear about all of them. But, still, in this bundle there are three (!) games that EDGE (UK gaming magazine) gave a rating of 9/10 (Arranger, Arco & despelote). I'd say it's huge for an average bundle with more or less new games.
But yeah, I think people in general are more lenient to indies. One of the reasons is precisely what you mentioned: these studies do operate differently compared to the big ones.

I remember trying a few demos before and I already have some of the cheaper tier games, but its an interesting lineup all the same. Adding a few games to my wishlist for future reference. Would be worth getting and splitting but some of these may not fit other people I know's tastes.

I haven't heard of any of these, have none owned (or wishlisted), but... hey, these look good. Value seems good for the price judging my key sites and that. No locks in EU. Just realised it's $3+ more than the USD price in GBP, that isn't so nice.

Edit: actually... Arco has been on my wishlist for quite a while appararently!

Really good bundle; would be a lot nicer if it was $5 cheaper, but $20 isn't ridiculous for what's included. Might bite.

As always people are willing to pay max 2-3$ per title and expect masterpieces. And instead of enjoying what they have, they keep complaining about what they don't. It's a tough life.

While I 97% agree with you there's a difference between paying 20€ for a game I will actually play and paying 1€ for a game purchased because of obsessive compulsive video game hoarding. I'm afraid 85% of the vocal SteamGifts population fall into the latter category 😅

There's not a single game in this bundle I have heard of before and I consider my video game taste quite versatile.

Actually that's not entirely accurate. There is one game I've read an article about and it made my skin crawl just how much I hate the premise. I do not enjoy walking down the same Unity programmed hallway 3 times to suddenly become afraid just because a potted plant switched from the left side of the corridor to the right side.
