OMG it's already 2016

what a nice extreme region-lock. i would rather go to my friend's house and give him money so he buys a game than gift it via origin....

Considering I play games with people worldwide... Only being able to gift to people in my country doesn't make it an appealing feature. Especially not being able to gift to someone 4 hours away from me because of a border.

It was nice untill I read the last part. Do they ever do something without fucking it up in the end?

Nice, I always buy games from Origin so a gifting feature is awesome. Especially a region locked one. /s

While regionlock sucks since most of my gaming friends are outside my country, its better than nothing.

I wish there was a option like "buy a discounted regionlocked game OR buy a game without regionlock at the same price its being sold in other countries".

Wait... I'd need that for friends I only know over the Internet - which are most likely not from the same country. Because most of the friends I'd gift a game and live in the same country I know in real life and it's much easier to go to a store and buy it for them there so the function is kinda useless. Am I right?

Yeah, i think EA do this to void region price
so like EU country can void tax

Yeah but online is cheaper most of the time, unless it's different where you live. But in Belgium Digital vendors like Origin, Steam etc. drive stores out of business most stores over here don't even sell games no more.

Also, that ridiculously restrictive region lock is sadly what we've come to expect from EA.

On the other hand, we have to admit it: this surely nips any potential larger second-hand market in the bud. I am surprised that Origin game black/grey market outside the games they put up in Humble Bundles exists.

Undoubtedly the reason for going through with it. I mean, these people aren't that stupid; I'm pretty sure that after all of their number crunching and projections and a possible peek at goings-on over in Valveland, it just made sense for them to take a heavy handed approach as usual. We'll see how it plays out (or not).

Try buy game as gift and sent to my friend but:
"Sorry, this gift purchase can't be completed. The recipient is ineligible to receive it. [ref. #56003]"

Edit: Ok, set same resident and it working.
