We released it today (should be around 30 minutes ago) and i am really grateful we made it.

I have to say that the game looks really kool. Congrats on the launch.

On a side note it doesn't seem like your publisher is doing a very good job at promoting your game unfortunately :(

Thanks a lot :)

Because you never heard of the game before?

I have heard of the game before as I look into developer conferences like PAX and Gamescom, some of my friends are developers in AAA and indie studios. Your game also uses Denuvo, which unfortunately can keep a game in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Your title looks really interesting and I figured Astragon would have better advertising for it like reaching out to PC Gamer, Destructoid, Kotaku or other major gaming sites to do post an article as well as reach out to a couple content creators to promote it.

Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Yes the Denuvo debate was quite big on steam.
But we did it to PC Gamer, i think we were just not big enough for day one.

That's kool that PC Gamer did an article today for the game :)

I saw the someone from your team responded to a bunch of reviews on Steam, which is great to see as there's a lot of studios who don't do that. Communication between the developers and the community I feel is important. I know the game has mixed reviews right now but I do hope that changes for yall.

Well, that was really quick 😅 Their review is somewhat mixed but apparently one of the largest german videogame sites has had your game on the radar ever since preview phase and have already written a review which is currently at the very top of their site.

I machine-translated their review and ironed out some of the worst kinks but I'm not entirely sure I should post this here since their test is somewhat of a mixed bag where they liked the unique concept a lot and also the battles (sometimes) but were disappointed by the story and lack of polish.

But hey! There's no such thing as bad publicity, right? And that site has a lot of readers, many of which often tend to disagree with their opinions.

English Translation of Drone Swarm review by Gamestar.de

If people are interested in the missing parts please just say so and I'll add the rest (pictures, Summary, Pros & Cons and numerical ratings) but for now I need a break 😅

Edit: I've made some more tweaks to the translation but there's still quite a few things in there that could be improved. Overall I think Google Translate did a decent job. Almost everything was technically translated correctly, in one sense of the word but often not the correct meaning for the context. Also the syntax feels a bit off in many places and there's way too many commas.

Edit 2: I was checking out the Store page yesterday and noticed there was a Day 1 broadcast going on so I watched for 30 - 40 minutes. So maybe I can indeed provide some opinions and notes beyond what can be seen in the trailers but there's quite a lot to say so I'll have to structure my thoughts first and try to keep it succinct.

Thank you for translating it :)
I dont think its bad publicity, its constructive criticism and thats good. I mean also we as developer need that to become better or even still making the game better.
I think a good point is Bus Simulator 18 (also from us), we started at mixed reviews and took all the criticism and patched the game. Now its mostly positive on steam :)

What is your opinion at the moment (even if you didnt play it) :)

Drone Swarm is a bit complicated in that regard but there were around 10 people working on it.

Looks like your programmer has done some amazing work on the drone movement/pathing systems. Comic art also looks nice in stills (not so much the animation).

Congrats on the release. :)

The game looks gorgeous!
May I ask if that's DOTS on HDRP? The flocking is so smooth and I'm quite curious if that's been achieved in VFX Graph or DOTS. Nonetheless, great job!

I cant tell you for sure because i was primarly involved with Art but it is no VFX and primarly done by code.
