In the summer of 2019, I graduated from (Swedish) high school. The plan was to take a year off and work for a while before pursuing higher education starting fall of 2020. So, how did that work out? Not well at all. It seems that there are no jobs for a recently graduated natural science student with no clear job experience to get. Even goddamn McDonald's didn't respond to my application, there was always someone with more qualifications applying.

So, from June to now, I have been at home doing nothing. I have 100%-ed so many games in this time because there was nothing else to do. I like to go to the gym, but in October I got hit with some kind of back injury which destroyed my ability to exercise, and, for a month or so, I couldn't even sit in a chair! So, I basically got forced into lying in my bed for a few months and now that I should (and need) exercise, I have no energy to get out of bed and do so. (Please, someone just force me to go to the gym!)

Now for the happier part.
A week or so ago I got accepted for an internship at my local library/event hall. I worked there before one summer, and I also basically grew up in that building so going back there to organize some books and concerts will be really nice. It'll give me something to do for a few months instead of lying in bed at home. But getting an internship isn't that hard. If I work from now to May/June, what the hell am I supposed to the summer before I'm off to university?

So I started looking for summer jobs. Hoped for more luck, even though before I had only failed. And two days ago, I got a call from a company. He said that they were basically finished with the interviews but they wanted to meet me this last second. Yesterday, I met up with him for a job interview. And today, he called me to say that I got the job!!!!!! The very first job interview that I passed!!!!
And it's a damn fun job. I will be a guide for the local Cold War fort/museum! I'm so excited! And this means that from now to August when university begins, I will finally have something to do! I just wanted to share because I'm so happy.

Congratulations! I remember my first job (was also my first interview ever). I was nervous but I learned a lot. So enjoy and learn as much as possible!

I'm actually doing an interview tomorrow. Is not for an exciting job or anything, but I've been unemployed for over an year now, so I'm really hoping for good news.

That sounds amazing, guess it was worth the wait. :) Both libraries and museums are such wonderful places to visit, should be nice being around people with similar interests.

Glad things are starting to turn around, hope your back feels better in a jiffy as well. It's tough to force yourself to exercise especially when you're in pain. Tend to be in the same boat of after being bedridden for so long you start getting so antsy and fed up with it that force yourself to do more outta sheer will haha. The initial push is always the hardest, but hopefully once you start getting more active again your energy will come back! Hope 2020's a good one for you. :D

Congratulations on the internship and the summer job, being a tour guide sounds like it'll be fun. You'll get to meet different people every day.

Getting back to the gym - maybe you can make a deal with yourself where you only get to play games if you've done some exercise that day! or find a gym partner, it's more difficult to slack off when you know you're letting someone down.

To get the job at McDonald's you just have to doctor up your resume'.
15 years experience taking orders from a fanatical lower-management autocrat.
3 years experience repeating mind-numbing tasks
18 years experience gaining no prestige in society
10 years experience being dismissed by strangers

My Father never does anything halfway. He gave you a job and He has given you a new back to match.
So get back to exercising, you're going to do great.

Really happy for you - congrats! I had a job like that back in the day, and it was a blast (I did have to walk there uphill, and strangely enough, I had to walk uphill on the way home).

Super congrats on the job! I love history and that job sounds like fun!

I hope your back improves and you find the will to go back to the gym (but that you don't re-injure yourself)
