First (good) consequence of the purchase of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft, let's wait for the other games and the removal of the Blizzard client as it happened with Bethesda client.

Likely won't happen. Battle Net has been around much longer than that tacky Bethesda thing. So, I don't think it's going anywhere

Haven't you read the details?
Battle.net (client) is still needed to play Overwatch 2 when you purchase it on steam.
And if it is really needed for crossplay...it won't go away.

Players on Steam will still need to connect Overwatch 2 to a Battle.net account, as we require for all platforms, which enables cross-platform play and more.

Same crap like others for example Ubisoft does.

So it is for them just another platform to sell the game.

not client, but battlenet account is only required.

It is not clearly stated whether the client is needed aswell or not necessary.
Thats why I put it in ( ).

For example watchdogs on steam does install the ubisoft connect client on first launch and does require it on every launch for a few seconds and closes it again after you are logged in.

But in the case of Bethesda (my example), the client was completely deprecated, but the account is still used, and that's my point, of course I read the article and batlenet is mentioned (the account but the client is not mentioned) that's why I make that assumption.

It is stated that you don't need Battle.Net Client, The president of Blizzard told it himself, as quote by the message above me. You only need a Battle.net Account.

It has happend too often that even the people in charge bend the truth a bit that people won't get angry.
I wouldn't be suprised if their "you don't need Battle.Net Client" in reality only means "you don't have to run the client and start the game from there" and it installs the client (in the backround) anyways.

Well...lets wait and see. It isn't that long anymore.

The purchase isn't even finished yet. This is just so they can boost their bottom line for whatever is the next fiscal period deadline and impress dumb investors with big numbers.

Nice. Guess I'll finally get to play Diablo then, sometime soon.

Still not gonna play it, game looks like a straight cash grab. Plus I deleted my Blizzard account after they banned Blitzchung from that Hearthstone tournament and took away his prize money for supporting the Hong Kong protests.

Blizz is china cucks and now I guess M$ will be? Not sure how M$ acts towards but if money is involved I'd bet they bend too.

Honestly before it had one of the most "generous" monetization among similar games, but now it definitely is.

It was more of a "2.0" update for OW that forced everyone to move to 2 ... it was pretty F'd up.

Do you mean when they added him initially, or when they turned him into a tank?

Blizzard should announce Overwatch 3. It could be like Overwatch 2, only with PvE.

I don't think that'll change anytime soon, at least until they merge it with Microsoft account. When they do that, Battle.net service will probably stay as a background process, just we won't see it as a launcher.
