these game will never have cards. They need reach X revenue ON STEAM, not via bundles, and while perhaps some will buy these on steam they wont get the 20k usd revenue for card release.

They don't have cards even if they mark it has they have, steam lets devs do this even if they don't have the stuff they say (for example achievements, cards, multiplayer) I can have a game that is all black screen and add all those things because steam doesn't really care

Steam has a new way of adding cards to games. When you see a game with cards on Steam, you should always check on the Steam market to see if the game includes cards. If you don't find any cards on the market for the game, it means the game doesn't include cards yet.

However if the game gets played enough & rated by the community, Steam will allow the developer to include cards in it.

If you see that the game is showing up on Steam as including trading cards but there's no cards on the market, it means the dev is willing to include cards in his game but he waits for Steam approval.

What there willing is irrelevant, Valve's guidelines specifically state that tags for features not yet present shouldn't be added. So Valve not enforcing this is as much a problem as the dev's misuse in this case.

I totally agree with you. However the main developer participating in our bundle told us that he already added a Steam cards built into his games so that's why it's showing up on Steam with cards. He also added that he's waiting for Steam to allow him to drop cards. However, it's definitely not a guarantee.

Has there been any leaked info about how much exactly does a game need to sell on Steam store before it can get cards? Is it the $1000 Steam Direct will return the fee at or certain number of copies or something else.

It's not just sales btw. Buyers also need to play that game.

new assetflip games will never reach the required revenue valve asking as those require purchases on steam and noone buy these on steam, these assetflip/assettheft games not even worth the 0,49 what is the minimal price on steam.

If you buy your own game from Steam, you lose a 30% cut and maybe some taxes after. This made me wonder if it can become profitable to do that on a big enough scale and have some of those gold/whatever farming companies in Asia have 1000 kids play your "games" all day until goal reached. Then give away 100k copies and enjoy the market profits.

Logic probably goes something like "the game does have cards, but we're just not giving them to people yet"

I use Enhanced Steam for that, if there are cards yet it will show badge progress on store page.

it means the dev is willing to include cards in his game but he waits for Steam approval.

It actually merely means the dev is engaging in false advertising. The dev backend, last I saw a screenshot of the exact prompt for this, was very explicit that you should not advertise your game as having cards before they are approved. The 'core problem' here is that not enough people are bothered by this to either mass-report ("flag") the games on Steam, and/or that mainstream gaming press sites have not covered the topic sufficiently for anybody at Valve feeling pressured to act.

Trading cards are actually checked and you won't pass review (auto reject) if cards are marked when there aren't. Devs simply abuse small oversight in this process.

Why the f isn't it automotised anyway?
Steam LOVES that in all it's elements but can't even code in "If badge > show has cards" ??? Seriously?

Only have one and I won that here a couple of days ago. Will buy it without a group buy though as it'll probably end up costing me more after fees.

You can check on Paypal what the cost would be.

If you're from the EU, I paid 0,70€ via PPF for a bundle in GroupBuys ($0.84).
The $1.39 would otherwise be 1,19€.

The conversion isn't the issue but the fee for paying using my card rather than my bank account. When I'm buying Indie Gala group buys I buy them 5+ at a time to save on fees though due to the higher price there I'm still making a saving even if I buy them individually rather than buying myself.

Making a purchase rather than sending money these extra fees aren't applied so for dollar tier bundles and other similarly priced purchases it's cheaper just to buy it myself.

I see. I mostly pay with my credit on Paypal... since I sell stuff on eBay I often have money on Paypal already and don't need to bother with credit card or bank account.
Can't you transfer money from your bank account to Paypal to have it ready for such cases?

Meh, Dexion. Shovelware, Asset Flips.

And as shak59 already pointed out, the TSS and IndieLip games all look like a reskin of the same platformer.

It's just me or IndieLip's games are the same platformer with different style each time? Though it's an art to make considerably worse, and boring-looking games than a better flash game ten years ago :|

They are usually russians, wouldn't be the first time 1 person behind several "companies", i think that is still happening, along with the fake/paid reviews.

Look at all those wolf3d clones lately.

If at least those wasn't random games without cards. I'm not collector of +1 to the game library. I buy games that a) are interesting b) have cards c) both. This doesn't fit any.
