should i start playing half life

Go eat a pokemon or something. Half Life is a must-play for every gamer; young, old, fat, thin, ugly or very ugly - you have to play it. It's the game.

Half Life 2 is ugly...I can imagine Alex`s answer to this already if she could see your face :)

Graphics do not matter, I've been playing Morrowind and still am.

Play it, beat it and jump into the mods wagon.

Game is pretty old, that mod sure does make up for it... and it's still on going with updates aswell, slowly but still going.

PS: Btw, graphics isn't what makes a game good. Half life is still pretty awesome despite it's age. It could still make alot of 2011/2012 games bite the dust with the gameplay in mind...

Both the first one and the second one are a must play in my book. And with the mods that are out now you certainly get your money worth!

Get HL:1 Source and mod the graphics. But I personally don't mod the gameplay, especially for a first time playthrough.

Same with HL:2 I would play with only graphics mods that dont change gameplay. The way its meant to be played.

Some people really do not understand that without this "ugly" graphics in old games - today's games would not be so pretty and the story wouldn't be in them so great?

You have 1000+ hours on L4D2, which runs on same (but a little upgraded) source engine. Saying HL2 is ugly is like saying your twin-brother is ugly :D

so how does "ugly graphics" relate to not having a chance to play?

I used to play lots of crossfire multiplayer back in the day. But I can't bear to play it now, seeing how ugly and lengthy the singeplayer is.
