Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.

The prize: 2x HELLDIVERS™ 2
Note: This means I'm giving away two copies of the game and will have 2 winners.

Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.

Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add you on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.

FAQ:

Why you doing this?

I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over eight years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.

I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?

No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.

Can I play a MP only game?

No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.

If a game was sold as a non-Steam copy in a bundle (origin/uplay/drm-free/etc), can I pick it as a choice if I own a Steam copy?

No. The reason being that those who own a Steam copy would have an extra option that would not be available to everyone who bought the same bundle. If the game was originally sold as a non-Steam copy, but Humble later provided steam keys to everyone who bought the bundle, then the game would be allowed.

Why six games?

The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.

How long are you going to do this?

Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.

This event "ends" on April 2nd when the next next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.

Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to do your part..

Update #1

I know I recently standardized the 1-2-1-2-1-etc pattern but I need to flip the order for the next two events. The event starting today will be a 1 month, and the next one will be 2 months (April-May) ending on June 4th. It will then go back on the 1-2-1-2-1-2 pattern after this so (June-July) ending August 6th will still happen as planned, with the one after that being 1 month for August.

The reason for the change is because I will not be around at the end of April/beginning of May. I goofed and completely forgot about it which is why I'm announcing the switch so late. Sorry for the trouble :/.

Tl;dr: Changed 1-2-1-2-1-2 into 1-1-2-2-1-2 due to life.

Game Bundle Achievement / Completion Proof Notes / Assessment
Metrico May 2017 No suitable achievement, here's a screenshot of credits, or perhaps "Compulsive Explorer" may suffice as well? If there was some deeper meaning, I probably didn't get it.
Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate July 2023 Complete / Rank 1 Cool experience. Wish I got this on my Switch.
Hyper Light Drifter July 2017 Bully / One Shot Idled for Cards in 2022; Somewhat rough experience; Got no-death achievement by alt+f4-ing quickly every time I died.
NAIRI: Tower of Shirin July 2019 Nairi Will Find Us, Someday Last set of puzzles were annoying. Getting the sequel is a consideration.
Midnight Fight Express December 2023 Watch The Sunrise Overstayed its welcome, especially with suddenly difficult sections. At least the music is cool.
Furi October 2017 Welcome Back, Rider Absolute worst game I ever had the displeasure of playing. But I made it to the end.

question for the future events, as an example "Metro Exodus" was in a bundle, but later on everyone got the "Enhanced Edition". Is it okay to play "Enhanced Edition" for the event, since everyone who had the base game got it? \
And a second question, the same case, but the "enhanced Edition" was not given to the players, can I potentially still play it, since it's essentially the same game but with a few benefits, in terms of graphics and/or more content (normally that's the case)?

Hi.

Yes, reasoning can be found here

And a second question, the same case, but the "enhanced Edition" was not given to the players, can I potentially still play it, since it's essentially the same game but with a few benefits, in terms of graphics and/or more content (normally that's the case)?

I'm not too sure what you are asking here. May you please rephrase the question? Thanks.

Finished slightly early by my lofty standards.

Games:

I am Fish from June 2022

Achievements - "Free At Last!"

I am Fish has plenty going for it with its charming aesthetic and novel concept. It's a shame that actually playing the game can often feel like a struggle against physics, but it's not unexpected given the lineage of I am Bread.

Rebel Inc. Escalation from October 2023

Achievements - "Mission accomplished"

I wasn't expecting to be as engaged with this as I was with Plague Inc., but the gameplay loop surprised me and I quickly found myself just as addicted as I was with the deadly diseases on my phone in 2012. Beating back insurgents is a tedious affair, but the rest of the mechanics mostly hold up to its forebear even if they don't really break new ground.

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster from July 2021

Achievements - "Just a hint of seasoning/Fat free diet"

Going back to an older remastered game can be an exercise in finding weaknesses in the AI at times, and SWINE could feel like that. The lack of base-building and macromanagement probably works to the remaster's advantage as those systems don't need to be updated and the player can focus on tactical decisions.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey from January 2021

Achievements - "Heritage"

This was a contentious game upon release, and the lead developer's sometimes-crass arguments against detractors didn't help. I could see some of the ideas he was going for, even if survival isn't normally my bag. Maybe in a few decades we can finally have a life-sim that delivers on all the wild promises that games like Spore and Black & White once foresaw.

Quantum Break from January 2018

Achievements - "Time Bandit"

Gameplay-wise, the game can overwhelm you with a lot of powers available all at once, which made it more comforting to play on the easiest difficulty to mostly ignore all of that when necessary. Some of the puzzles and checkpointing could be a bit annoying with not being able to tell where to go and where to use time powers.

The "part-TV show" portion felt novel, and I do love FMVs, but the direction and cinematography could feel lacking. Quantum Break feels like it's scratching the surface of something great, which is a bit of a downer given that a new game is unlikely and even if it does happen, the best performance of the first game (the late Lance Reddick) cannot continue. Despite the lack of connection to the greater Remedyverse, it is fun to see some of the concepts that were eventually employed in Alan Wake II.

Mind Scanners from August 2022

Achievements - "Mind Trainee"

The comparisons to Papers, Please are obvious, and the aesthetic of Mind Scanners mostly delivers, but the game's dystopia feels a bit too dull compared to the wackier and more outwardly oppressive world of its spiritual inspiration. Additionally, the scanning/device/evaluation gameplay felt a bit arduous and the difference between difficulty levels didn't seem too significant.
