Edit:

Giveaway Ended, Thanks everyone for the comments, hope i can get back to gaming and enjoying it soon ^-^

Hello...
So basically my steam stats says it all, i have played only 2.9 hours past 2 weeks..... :(
I don't know exactly what the fuck happened but for the past 1.5 years I haven't been playing video games as much as I used to, It's part due to the fact that I have to study and work at the same time now and I don't have as much free time but It's not the main reason, I have the time to play video games but it just feels like there is no interesting game out there, I still follow the gaming "world" :| though. news, trailers, youtubers, etc. but when it comes to playing games myself nothing seems interesting, and that's the weird part because there are definitely games i want to try, when i see videos of some games I'm like "shit that game looks fire I have to try it" but then when I get close to trying the game... Its like games have become fun to watch but not fun to play, and I hate

And I really really miss gaming, I found some of the best friends I've had in my life when playing video games, some of the best and most memorable moments I've had in my life were because of video games.
I've been studying more, working and going out more (and according to people "doing actual things" more) but let me tell you, it's hasn't been fun :D There are definitely other things I enjoy but non of them compare to my "gaming days" :| , I think It's because i basically grew up with video games, the group of friends i had were all into video games and that's what ours lives revolved around, gaming...

But then I got to try the Nintendo Switch a few weeks ago, and I'm really really excited about it!
when Nintendo Switch was first announced my reaction was "meh...". I can say I'm pretty familiar with nintendos IPs and consoles but the wii u was a failure and i had a 3DS but it became boring to me after a few months, even after switches full presentation last month i was still negative about the whole thing but after trying it, it just feels great in hand, and the new Zelda game is just sooooooo enjoyable to play, I played it for just around 30 minutes and i legit didn't want to stop playing, i was so sad when they said my times up :( I didn't pre order it but im completely sold on the Switch and specially Zelda, It's the first time I'm excited about a game in the last 1.5-2 years and it just feels great!

And now about why i decided to write all these here, SteamGifts was one of the last communities i joined and got attached to it, it was mostly because of trading but the community itself was great, so many friendly users and so fucking many hilarious discussions!
i don't know how it is now because almost all my closer friends i know from steamgifts/trades have stopped trading, i just wanted to write all these and kinda thank the community. Here's a random giveaway(requires lvl2), one of those games that i really really want to play but i couldn't get myself to actually play it :/

Thanks for reading...

Oh I think I might have been there several months ago. I have the time to actually play something but I'd rather spend it sleeping or resting instead. I came to the point that I want to quit my job, sure I earned so much that I bought skylake/pascal build in no time, but I ended up not enjoying life. So I decided tone down the work.

If the Switch gets you interested again then jump to that on release and take a full PC break. As they say a change is as good as a rest.

Happens to me all the time as well, there's times I have countless games I want to play yet when the time comes I'm just not in the mood. Can last anywhere from a few days to months at a time. It'll eventually come back.

Till then just try to enjoy the other activities as much as you can!

I was in similar position and the thing that helped to enjoy games once again was Play or Pay event in one of the groups where we choose games for each other to play. It is fun and it motivates me to give at least one game that is picked for me a try :) Although changing hobbies isn't anything bad, for example I don't enjoy football as I did a few years ago, that's just because I've found other fantastic things to do. Still like it but not as much as I used to :)

I had years away from gaming even though I followed it anbd kept buying games. Being an over the road trucker I had very little time to do anything. Now Im retired and trying to catch up though LOL

it doesn't happen to me. sometimes i have that feeling about movies or tv. everyone is talking about "mr robot" and i feel like i have to see it to get in the conversation, but i get bored watching an hour of something. i don't understand how people binge watch entire seasons on a day. i don't have problems watching movies on the cinema or when i'm with friends or a date. but if i'm alone, i have to be really interested on the movie to watching on one siting.

but i can play videogames for hours and don't realize how much time had pass.

anyway.... bumping for the bumps.

I've had quite a few phases in which I wasn't into gaming much or at all, but I always came back after a while. For over 30 years I'm playing computer (and up to 2005 also video) games and I'm likely doing that for the next 30 years too ;) It's now normal for me that there are times when I don't seem to enjoy gaming, but I know that it'll come back. Sometimes it's even good to give yourself a full break from gaming to get excited about playing games again.

Happened to me too. I just took a break, turned to books/films/tv shows and sometimes a game (maybe Zelda will be your case) got me back into gaming and yeah, it's pretty much a rotation of hobbies for me :)

Happens to everyone at some point I think. Not heard of it lasting that long before, but everyone is different. Usually, it is just some game you find that pulls you back, for me last time it was Yakuza 3 after not playong anything for 7 months and being given a ps3

people grow up, that sometimes means growing out of some things. hardly think the switch is going to change that, is a game console just like any other, expect is kinda portable, hopefully it will for you.

I almost completely quit gaming for a couple of years too when I started my studies in a university.
It wasn't just because I had less time, but I kinda had lost the fire to play more "competitively".
I've since come back to gaming more in the past few years, but I've become more of a casual gamer now.
I guess that's just how it goes..
You enjoy something, but you might grow tired of it occasionally, but if you really enjoy it, you will come back to it eventually :P
Thanks for the gib!

I actually feel the same. I have so many games, and I've even accumulated games that I WANT to play. I don't know what the problem is though. I just don't play them. I spend more time trading games and browsing the SG forums than actually playing games now. Which kinda sucks. It's not that I've really lost interest in games but I don't know what else it could be.

Thanks for the giveaway.

Thanks a lot for the giveaway. I understand, but maybe you just don't like the genre of the games that you're trying to play? Maybe, you're trying to persuade yourself to play games that you don't actually like, while there are many other interesting games you haven't yet heard and you would probably like?

It's nothing to be worried about. These things come and go. You sometimes need rest even from your hobby. Poll results show it happens to quite a lot people. Happened to me too, with games, and even books Last year I read 72 books. Yes, that is more than one book every week. Since 1st of January this year I have read one book. I needed a break.

Bump.
There is so many games nowadays, so most of us is fed up from them. I remember these day I had physical copies of 4-5 games and I actually played them... now I have hundreads of Steam games and I am not interested in playing them anymore... I see problem with numbers of repeating games. Nothing new in them, still exactly same concept with few changes.

To me, gaming is to take a break and relax myself. If you could find a different way to relax yourself, it doesn't matter if you do gaming or not.

Ohh yeah. Between becoming engaged, working full time, now school, car breaking down on the highway, life kinda happened pretty quick. Haven't had nearly the same kind of time to play.
