Edit:

Giveaway Ended, Thanks everyone for the comments, hope i can get back to gaming and enjoying it soon ^-^

Hello...
So basically my steam stats says it all, i have played only 2.9 hours past 2 weeks..... :(
I don't know exactly what the fuck happened but for the past 1.5 years I haven't been playing video games as much as I used to, It's part due to the fact that I have to study and work at the same time now and I don't have as much free time but It's not the main reason, I have the time to play video games but it just feels like there is no interesting game out there, I still follow the gaming "world" :| though. news, trailers, youtubers, etc. but when it comes to playing games myself nothing seems interesting, and that's the weird part because there are definitely games i want to try, when i see videos of some games I'm like "shit that game looks fire I have to try it" but then when I get close to trying the game... Its like games have become fun to watch but not fun to play, and I hate

And I really really miss gaming, I found some of the best friends I've had in my life when playing video games, some of the best and most memorable moments I've had in my life were because of video games.
I've been studying more, working and going out more (and according to people "doing actual things" more) but let me tell you, it's hasn't been fun :D There are definitely other things I enjoy but non of them compare to my "gaming days" :| , I think It's because i basically grew up with video games, the group of friends i had were all into video games and that's what ours lives revolved around, gaming...

But then I got to try the Nintendo Switch a few weeks ago, and I'm really really excited about it!
when Nintendo Switch was first announced my reaction was "meh...". I can say I'm pretty familiar with nintendos IPs and consoles but the wii u was a failure and i had a 3DS but it became boring to me after a few months, even after switches full presentation last month i was still negative about the whole thing but after trying it, it just feels great in hand, and the new Zelda game is just sooooooo enjoyable to play, I played it for just around 30 minutes and i legit didn't want to stop playing, i was so sad when they said my times up :( I didn't pre order it but im completely sold on the Switch and specially Zelda, It's the first time I'm excited about a game in the last 1.5-2 years and it just feels great!

And now about why i decided to write all these here, SteamGifts was one of the last communities i joined and got attached to it, it was mostly because of trading but the community itself was great, so many friendly users and so fucking many hilarious discussions!
i don't know how it is now because almost all my closer friends i know from steamgifts/trades have stopped trading, i just wanted to write all these and kinda thank the community. Here's a random giveaway(requires lvl2), one of those games that i really really want to play but i couldn't get myself to actually play it :/

Thanks for reading...

I have a similiar problem since I got a large amount of games on Steam: I spend a lot of time thinking about which games to play and can't decide for any of them, so I end up exhausted and thus playing nothing most of the time. Only sometimes a game which I have acquired recently can spark any interest...
That's how you end up with an abyssmal playrate of 82% unplayed games...

Check out this "article" form 2007 -> Games that haven't changed in ten years. 10 years have passed since them and i daresay nothing "revolutionary" has been going on. Not even VR - yeah VR that is slowly gaining in popularity but is still ridiculous small and insignificant ... and probably best for pornography right now.

The times aren't the problem, games are - shitloads everywhere and very few are worth
being played to begin with (for whatever reason they excell and ultimately lure to to play).

Personally i have no problem just letting the games unplayed its not as if it cost me a hand and a foot ... in fact the steam meta game
(trading, collecting games/items within the community) is probably more fun than most games themselves once you try them and notice
"... for riels now zzz, i'd rather watch that sci-fi/medieval/fantasy tv-series ..." or "for funks sake ... i might as well continue reading that
book on kindle" - that is how boring it gets regarding games (not to mention the allure of particular literature once it strikes your fancy).

(Also in my op. movies have gone to shit, while tv series [a few of them] were to me the most enjoyable stuff in
video entertainment i had the pleasure to consume - instead of playing video games. Examples: the tudors, vikings ...)

Happened to me too, but for more than 1.5 years. There are jewels hidden in indies or games that no have diffusion like the AAA.
Also fill that gap with other hobbies such as programming and design.
Thanks for the GA ^^

Yes. Sometimes I found myself in the same situation.
I have a huge backlog. Pretty good games to try.

And everytime i got some freetime to play, I just go and play some MP..

I can't explain. I always think "well, i need x hours to play that. I just have 1h. So I will do some rounds on multiplayer and wait for other day to play that game"

My advice? Stop following the scene and play games. You can get saturated by following too much the scen, and when you can actually play games you don't want to çause you are kinda saturated.

I actually have quite a lot of free time these days, and yet rarely play games.....and like you I do not quite understand why as I like playing games and I have a lot of them.....well partly I have been working from home recently (so anytime of the day) and I have been catching up on film/series I have missed in recent years....then I injured my hand but still these are all minor reasons and I have somehow avoided gaming without a real reason and it confuses and annoys me.

we're all getting older and sooner or later you'll realize you wont be around forever. while big fun and highly entertaining, sometimes even amazing and breathtaking, gaming doesn't get you anywhere.
many big time wasters of old days get way less tempting as soon as you get your head around that.

till around 2007 i used to be an overclocking and cooling guru for my rig and suddenly that changed more or less overnight. zero fucks given about one or two jiggawatts more or less, i just wanted stuff to work. like the wise say: 'if it aint broken don't fucking fix it!'.
keeping stuff just running is hard enough already. a few days into the new year the garbage barracuda killed my steam lib and before that my 5.1 system crapped out on me and i still haven't gotten around to try and fix it.

in the last weeks i spent more time on the road with my bike or running shoes than playing games.
after all summer's almost here and you've got to be ready for the wild hunt! there's always time for playing after playing...

I know what you mean. I find myself spending more free time watching others playing games instead of actually playing them myself (mostly cause I don't have them and don't want to buy them though).

Sometimes having good mates to play with can change up a lot. So that's what I would suggest if you don't, look for good and funny mates to play games with.

I can only speak for myself, but as I got older my taste in games changes alot. Back in college I played a ton of Doom (the original Doom and Doom 2), but now I can hardly stand first person shooters. Some of the recent games I've liked alot are little platformer puzzle games like Limbo and Hue. I never liked those when I was younger. So I guess I'd say try lots of different things and see if something scratches that itch. Here on steamgifts you can win lots of different types of games to try out without spending much $, so just enter some things and see if you win something interesting that you might not otherwise play.

I've been playing a lot less than in the past as well, it's weird. I guess we just have changing priorities even though less gaming feels like a loss.
