Binary Domain was a great game, overlooked in my opinion.
You should play Spec Ops: The Line. Don't read any reviews, just play it.

Can't remember in which European country Aerannis takes place in but I do remember that the "bad guy" is the government itself and religion maybe, the end was kinda surreal and it's been years since I played the game. It's not a AAA game like the others mentioned in the thread but it was the first thing that came to mind where the country itself is the evil entity causing all the problems, although to be fair that's a pretty comon trope in sci-fi / cyberpunk.
I'm pretty sure there are American made games bashing US culture for behaving like dicks to everyone but I don't know if you'll find them all that frequently among big titles cos those aim to please more than to challenge, it just happens that none is comming to mind right now. Maybe Just Cause 2 since the plot is pretty blatant in its portrayal of US agencies as borderline terrorists in their persuit of economic benefit, they do wreck havoc in an island nation for the sake of controlling its natural resources before other powers can claim them but there's also this general tone of doing it for "fredoom" even tho you're handing the country to a bunch of psychos (you just choose the flavor of murderous revel group) so I can't say it counts with 100% certainty.

Aerannis looks interesting
Just Cause I hear sometimes is terrorists sim and is very good example. In name of "freedom(TM)" you become GTA protagonist (you send civilian car to the moon and protagonist is like "och...anyway")

Hi
There lite context: I m finished story of Binary Domain. It is not perfect game but something catch my interest: Devil's Details and Sega is Japanese company and they choose Japan as that "bad guy". Not often you see developers chose own country as "bad guy".
Now main topic: What I call American complex: America must be showed as "good guy" "hero" or Savior to sell in USA (probably you see many of examples of that trope)
There is any game from American company that choose AMERICA as "bad guy" (whole country not just that one deserter for example: gen. Shepard from CoD:MW2). I see almost all games choose America as "hero" or "good guy". Really typical american can`t take fictional story where America is "bad guy"? I have example that even more show "American complex" in comments to book(LN):"Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri"/"Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There!": (paraphrasing) "book is bad because America is showed as bad guy (resource hungry)"
In Binary Domain even America not show as good guy: Spoiler from Binary Domain (end game!) American President order to kill all child of "Hollow Children"(human looking robot!) despite they have no robotic body/elements because can make racist problem (yeh typical fight racist using more rasizm)
