Nope. Absolutely no reason it should be necessary to do so.
People are idiots.

My parents. Mostly because my dad never remembers his own details.

People do this? That's crazy. I'd go anal if people read my email.

No, it sounds a bit moronic. I could only imagine maybe an old couple who've been together for 50 years and are a bit computer illiterate doing it.
Any ticket you ever receive that says "my brother/mother/father/hamster" did it have a 99.9% chance of simple being a really pathetic excuse.

Request them a family photo + photo of identification cards, let's see how much time they mantain the lie :-D
Also does that save you from breaking any rule?
Also any android mobile user needs a gmail account, so that reduces even more the chances they are telling the truth.

Google accounts are weird. You can have a 'Google account' which you can then add products to - YouTube, Gmail, Drive etc. Afaik, the basic account has almost no features.
It certainly isn't a requirement to have a Gmail account to use an Android phone. It gets confusing, I've got an email account that's not with Google and is my email that I use for my Android phone and then there is Gmail (amongst other things) tied to that Google account with the e-mail address that isn't Google.

I have a spam email account I share. I also share paypal accounts with my dad since my current credit union doesnt like paypal.

If anything, I'm scamming him, since all my payments come from his bank account!

Yes he knows. I only spend like $20 max a month on paypal anyways. What's a couple of dollars to a family member?
Also, any game I sell for paypal goes to him, so it pretty much gets evened out.
Edit: I just realized it might be a cultural thing. I'm Asian and I was pretty much raised to take care of family above all else.

And you name your accounts along the lines of "thejadefalcon" and the "thejadefalconn"
This actually makes sense. When I was under 10, my dad made email accounts for both my sister and I. He named them, and they were one letter different. Obviously I don't use that one anymore.

I share my mail account with multiple mails, 1 is for the webmaster-me, 1 is for the gaming-me, 1 is for the private-me, etc...
:D

Okay, seriously. Who honestly, genuinely, shares an e-mail account with anyone any more? With Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, whatever, there's a thousand free e-mail account services for the taking? So unless it's for a joint account of somewhere, who honestly shares their e-mail account with anyone? I sure as hell wouldn't, I've got plenty of private stuff on there, like I'm sure everyone does to some extent. It'd make PayPal only useable by one person too. But if support tickets are to be believed, half of you share accounts with your brother. Even the ones who don't have a brother. And you name your accounts along the lines of "thejadefalcon" and the "thejadefalconn".
So, does anyone do this? Has anyone ever done it?
P.S. I already know the answer is "Man, those guys are stupid to use that excuse, moreso if it's actually true."
