Can any one suggest a good Pirate game. I was looking at Sid Miers Pirates and was wondering if anyone else has suggestions of a better Pirate game.

Came here just to suggest SPAZ. Not technically a sea-fairing pirate game, but more of a space-going pirate game. Amazing all the same.

^^Both of these games are great, SPAZ is an unappreciated gem as far as I'm concerned and Sid's Pirates is both light enough to enjoy casually and in-depth enough to lose yourself in.

SPAZ is as aweseom as any game can get. Its an awesoem subgenre on its own

pirates for arcade, port royale series for a more serious carribean trading/pillage.

both have trade, both have ship to ship combat, port royale has a much deeper economic system.

actually try port royale 2 its more like sid meirs but with the ability to create your own town. port royale 3 is lacking compared to 2 it is more like port royale.

Sid Meier's is a pretty excellent one... is there some aspect of it that turns you off? Maybe a specific genre your thinking of? I wouldn't say East India Company or Patrician are better than Sid Meier's, but they could be more what you have in mind.

Sid Meier's Pirates is a great game a bit dated but will always be one of my favorite classics.
Port Royale is also good but could never really get fully into it.
Also another classic but you would have to emulate is Uncharted water and uncharted waters new horizons which was on SNES and genesis back in the day.

I've looked at Patrician, Pirates, and Port Royal. I haven't looked at east India Company.

What I get from your comments so far is Sid Miers Pirates #1 arcade like then Port Royal more serious and more micro managing.
Thanks for the suggestions keep em coming or reasons why one is better than the other. I think I have a little pirate in me. :-) Not the internet kind either!

I played the beta of Pirates of The Caribbean Online, its a pretty good action MMO with good sailing mechanics. Puzzle Pirates is good if you are a more casual gamer or someone who likes micromanaging and politics. In essence everything from sailing to loading guns is a puzzle.

No more MMO's for me. Paying to play or being brainwashed with ads, or paying to be able to progress in the game is not for me any more. I did love the movies though!

All of Monkey Island.
Mother fuckin' Diddy's Kong Quest,
Sid Meier's Pirates (2004 version obviously)
Tropico 2: Pirate Cove because why not
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker has a few pirate themes but IMO it's not very big.
Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty
any of the 'Age of Pirates' games.

Sid Meier's Pirates! (2004) is the best pirate game out there.

Though the Monkey Island series definitely deserves a look too.

I have, and, well, if you're really into pirates, you might enjoy it a bit. Can't recommend it though, it's so very simplistic, and not in a good way.

If your into retro games you can get a emulator of Uncharted Waters and Uncharted Waters New Horizons, those were on SNES and were awesome games.

Although there's no actual pirating involved. Aside from that being done against the player.
