Hey there!

I'm using an adblocker which is disabled on steamgifts. Today a popup opened as new tab. At this time I only had steamgifts opened. I already experienced this a few times before.

I really want to help steamgifts by keeping my adblocker disabled, but I really hate popups. So this is a public suggestion. Disable the popups, if you are able to, or I will enable my adblocker again. I'm sure, others are like me and already did this.

Thanks =)

What pop up? I haven't had any? You should scan your PC for adware/malware etc.

I was going to suggest the same. I disable adblock on SG and I've never had a popup/poptab ad.

Same here, I got ads enabled for SG.

I already did, nothing...

And I only experienced this when opening many sites quickly and only when using steamgifts, no other website.

I don't know then. I've been here for 3 months and never had a pop-up.

Pop ups? I've never encountered any here. Are you sure you didn't get infected by adware?

Never had any kind of popup on SG, wether related to SG+ or otherwise.

And even if you weren't a jerk using adblock, you might not have noticed the ads either since there are so few of them.

You get a "SG+ has updated to version x.yz. Would you like to view the changelog?" message if you don't allow cookies or delete cache.

This. Every time i clean my browser cache, this crap pops up, even if there was no version update at all.

^Kind of harsh?

Yeah, it was... it kinda of pisses me off when I see people talking about their AdBlock.

To me, using that is the same as saying "Screw you website owner. I feel entitled to have a free service from you and I'm going to make sure I don't contribute to the survival of the site in any way or form."

Yeah steamgifts ads are so unobtrusive that I forget they are even there. To block them is just plain ridiculous.

Every time you visit the site, you cost the owner money for the bandwidth you use. By using Adblock, you're preventing him from getting any form of payment from your visit. The only reason a site like this is able to be up and running for free is because of the ad revenue. Everyone that's using Adblock is cutting down on that revenue stream. And those people are often the first to complain about the site's downtime even though they're one of the reasons the owner can't afford a more reliable hosting plan or at least more staff to keep things running.

I might have been a little harsh since most people are not aware of the damage they're causing by using Adblock. If more people thought about the consequences of installing such thing instead of going "hurr durr I don't like ads", they wouldn't have ad blockers, at least not active for sites they visit somewhat frequently.

I had suspicious ads here before, but never popups. Try to get the url of the popup and ask support about it.

You're horrid at ultimatums.

Just install Adblock+ and be done with it.

"and stop going to shady sites....you honestly don't need robot-on-monster porn videos ;)"

Even if you are just kidding, the site doesnt have to be shady to be a haven for malware. You also dont need to give permission for said malware to download and install on your computer in the background.

malware affects more religion and family friendly sites than porn sites.

i forgot...use that ccleaner and malware at least once a week...but also depending on that "adblocker" software...it prolly came with built-in adware/redirect

and check your browsers plugins and ditch everything u dont understand
