I'm kind of messy when it comes to storing my photos. Is there a specific way you do it?

Because there's the original quality pic and then the photoshop image.
What I have so far is the dated folder of the pics that my camera keeps organized and then a copy of what i actually want to use and photoshop. Then that goes into a photography folder that is the messiest thing ever.

Also what website do you upload them too, Flickr, or Deviant Art?

I use this: aminus3.com

I tried them all, for some reason this one stuck, Deviant Art was the worst(People actually took my photos claiming them as there own) and Flickr is over crowded to the point where no one sees your stuff. As for organizing, everything is a mess but Lightroom has some decent dating options.

looks like a great community but too bad that you can only upload 6MP images :(

And apparently the pictures get resized to 800x600?

Ahh yeah, I kinda don't mind that since I never upload big anyways, mainly because I hate watermarks and having a photo not so big kinda makes people walk the other way and not take it. I think they are big enough to see everything that needs to be seen though.

It is nice there though, I understand if the file size thing is an issue though. I also went with them because the people who run the site are super friendly, I shot off some questions when I started there and they answered everyone perfectly and quick.

I thought this was a followup thread for the one Cult posted earlier. Then I read the title better.

I also use Lightroom for more professional touches, and Picasa for casual all around use.

I organize my photos by hand, and name directories by year and month, e.g. 201201 - January.

This naming would lead to a good "sort by name" outcome, or as you expect it to be.

Inside each folder I use themed names (Day trip to X, Birthday of Y). This way Picasa shows the event name, and not some weird date.

As for websites - I don't have preference at all. I personally use Google Web Albums to share the photos with friends and family (I do

mostly portraits, or similar to), nothing public.

I also keep copies of the processed pics, in "Album" directories. Also sorted by the same naming scheme, under a different root directory.

Hope it was useful...

I sort them in folders (by month-year), ex. Feb07_2012, and archive every photo I take (deleting the shaken, blurry, etc. images beforehand).

I take RAW and JPEG, and edit in Lightroom 2.3 or CS5.

I post occasionally to my DeviantArt, and I've been thinking of reviving my Flickr account. Also thinking about putting up a personal website sometime before the summer rolls around.

I sort them by folders (type of photography, and photoshops by type of photomanipulation).

Take the RAW format, or JPEG, edit on CS5 mostly.

Used to post on my Deviantart, but i ended up deleting it due to some people copying without permission (considering i use to post some of my work for local competitions and such). Right now i upload very few, have a HD full of content, and tons of DVDS with backup.

I use Puush to upload all my files, even my photography photos.
Also what Camera do you use?

I made a main folder inside My Pics (which is used just for wallpapers and random stuff) in that main folder I created folders for pets, the different family groups (my wife and me, in-laws, etc) then general folders for different locations (street names where someone lives for example) in those are more folders by the date of some random get-together or holiday

yeah - my wife, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law take A LOT of pictures - it's a daunting task
when I get some time to kill (gawd, that's funny) I'm going to just write a database for all of them

I only keep the file from the camera if it's raw, otherwise I save it as a tif and keep that since it's lossless.

Try Flickr, Personally I haven't used Flickr though to upload cause i'm still using an old style of getting black and white photographs, if you need help storing, try picking which photos you really want, don't choose it unless it's for a very good reason, this way you can save more images and only take a more meaningful great photographs,

Even great photographers take thousands of pics in a day, all it takes is organizing it, as well as hearing what people say on this thread, all of them have good ideas :D. So try out which you prefer. GL! :D
