Huh? I checked 'local files' but no such thing as move install folder. I tapped on Steam client update and it says it's already up to date.

You need to be using the Steam Beta Client

You don't need two hard drives, you just need two install folders. You can have multiple install folders on the same drive

Well that explains it. Thanks.

No you don't. I'm not using Steam beta client and can change the installation folder. The feature was introduced in the regular Steam client update 3 weeks ago

Nice. Since I only use the Beta I thought this feature wasn't in the regular client.

Same here, I'm not on the beta client but have the ability to move install location.

This is great news, I can be OCD about which games are installed on which drive now xD

check settings - download - steam library folders
after adding another folder you can move games between install folders.

Uh, this has been around for at least a month, maybe two.
I remember another thread about it. :X

Excellent addition, though, and one I'm surprised wasn't added years ago.

It was added 3 weeks ago to be precise ;)

"You also need 2 (or more) hard drives, otherwise you won't see it even if you're on the beta client." Hard drive or disk partitions

He probably intended "disk partitions"

Might be dense, what's so different from setting an installation map to D:\ f.e and set that to primary?

This is for moving entire games after they've already been installed.

I knew that. It was since the last update 1 month ago lol. Thanks though

It was never that hard to do manually, but it's nice that they made it a proper feature.

Sorry for the necro folks, but it appears this option has now gone. can anybody else confirm?!

Edit: to be clear, just restarted steam before posting this, so could be a borky update.
Edit2: just opted into beta updates and its also gone from there too.
EDit3: Okay, this gets weirder.

Having had the client scan the external drive's library... those games are now showing the option to be moved, as is the C drive (which wasnt before). Has to be a weird update bug.

Well, at least theres a fix of sorts for anybody else encountering this!

I've just restarted steam before making the post you're replying to. Could be a new update.

Edit: thanks for responding though!

See above. When did you last restart the client?

Just restarted the client... the option seems to be there.,, Well, for INSTALLED games anyway -- is it possible the game you are trying to move is not correctly installed?

Cheers!

P.S.: Maybe you have to register the folder with Steam first? Try Settings/Downloads/Steam Library Folders...? I am guessing here.

nope, this is installed games im wanting to move off my drive onto an external drive / steam library, and the install folder im moving from is the default. this is weird! O____o

Edit: meantime im just doing them manually at least - would rather be watching a film though than chasing down store / app_id texts etc! :D

Edit2: screenshot so you see i am not crazy!
