I was playing Skyrim lot's of time ago, not in Steam and with no DLC and no MODs. For now I have both: Skyrim LE and Skyrim SE. What to play better? Maybe old version with ENB and workshop mods? And another question about mods: are they making steam achivments closed?

If you plan to play with mods LE it is for now. If you play the SE with mods you'll have no achievements unless you mods it to have achievements... Main reason is that SE doesn't support nearly as many mods as LE right now.

I think this is an unpopular opinion but here I go.

Both are pretty bad, Skyrim is a bad game overall, but if you really want to play that game, go for the Skyrim LE with ENB + other mods that suits you. The SE edition still has tons of bugs and performance issues, plus the improved graphics are worse than an ENB mod.

LE. Wait for more mods before you switch to SE.

I think that the choice is mostly limited by the fact "can your PC run the Special Edition on appropriate settings?". If not, as far as I know the games are the same, just he SE has updated graphics over the LE. So if you can run the game on High or Medium High settings and you don't care about Mods just play the SE, if you care about Mods and you can run the SE on those settings I just mentioned wait a bit till most of the mods are available in the new version. If you can't run the game on those settings you could just play the LE with or without mods depending on your choice since the games either way are the same, so same story, same progression, same everything.

LE because it has more mods that can make the game look better than SE and perform better too, at least for know. When SE has more mods and if you have a GPU that can run it maxed out it should become the better choice.

Play the Special Edition as it has a lot more improvements over the original. If you're looking to mod the game then Special Edition is a lot better to do so. Achievements are disabled while using mods, but there's a plugin called Achievements Mods Enabler on Nexus that re-enables achievements. I'm using it & I achievements unlock just fine while using mods.

SE, already thousands of mods out, some even improved by a motivation spur of the modder community... so yeah. It's also a nice chance to look through all the new mods one by one as they come out as i didn't had the chance back then when Skyrim release as i got it pretty late.

If you'll be going modless, then SE.
If you'd going to use mods, then LE hands down.

Some people say "SE has mods already", but truth is, without SKSE-SE, tons of greatest mods can't work, so you'll be quite limited with your options.
