He has been rescued. We have been able to speak with him. He is ok
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/spanish-paraglider-missing-for-five-days-rescued-in-himachals-kangra-1937039

I'd like to mention Singaporean Ng Kok Choong, victim of an accident on 23rd and spotted by the crew of the helicopter seaerching for my relative.
Ng Kok salved lives during a recent earthquake in Indonesia.

A true hero:
http://www.asiaone.com/singapore/singaporean-paraglider-killed-india-aborted-flight-2-days

Edit:

He has appeared. He has been provided water and food. He is well, or reasonably well of course.
The helicopter was able to find him after a false positive.

Tomorrow another helicopter will go for him.

Again, thanks all for you kind support

My brother in law has disappeared in India, Himalaya zone, 4 days ago while flying in paraglider.
He has spent 3 nights (4 with this one) in the open and we got this morning news that he is injured but no to what extent.

Two attempts to reach by helicopter have been called off ( I don't know exactly the reasons) but it seems there are severe burocratic issues involved. We are trying to obtain Spanish foreign ministry aid to get Indian army's help as we think this is his only chance now.

Do anyone happen to know any gubernamental officer or even military person that could help here?

https://m.timesofindia.com/city/shimla/spanish-paraglider-goes-missing-in-himachal/articleshow/66309231.cms

I know this sounds as a desperate attempt for help. Yes, it is.

Thanks all

Please contact Mrs Sushma Swaraj , minister of external affairs via twitter. She is known for her prompt action and helpful nature. Also involve the Spanish embassy at your level to step up the SAR efforts. Praying for the best outcome.

Did he had insurance? The company would normally be the main asset in the search, also for getting proper contact or up to date info.

Idn about india, but from what ive heard of other countries (and what generally occurs in mine) is that the military is most probably already involved in some level - i bet their helicopter is from the military. The question isn't their involvment, but their willingness (and or resources) to send in more helicopters in short notice (as in moving assets and paperwork in a non predicted manner). Chances are they're already moving towards that in some fashion, but from lack of infraestructure to other logistical problens (where are the closest helicopters, pilots at disposal, etc) and even the weather can be getting in the way.

The proper/default protocols mostly used avoid putting rescuers and others at abnormal risk- if theres a good chance the helicopter could get damaged (and thus everyone dying) or even if the weather is just too bad to see anything from above then the usual is to wait for a better window of opportunity.

Considering how in that area its normal for insurance companies to cover most of rescues im sure theres one or more that can be found online- the prices will probably be way more expensive then the typical insurance cover, but if doable i doubt they wouldn't accept being hired for doing so. Even if he already have insurance, that could be a way to send in more help (numbers wise).

But its good to keep in mind that numbers generally doesn't mean much in these cases. More people and assets for searches can be helpful the bigger the area to cover is, the smaller is the range of search more and more assets/people have dimmishing returns (heck, too many people can even get in the way- 2 helicopters flying the same area would take longer just to avoid each other). From that article Its a paragliding area with a number of similar cases (and rescued pilots)- its safe to assume the people searching for him know what they are doing. The huge number of scenarios that could have happened is what makes thing difficult- the best team in the world wouldn't find a difficult target in a unlikely place much faster then a smaller or less experienced one- this isn't so much about skill or money or number of people but a matter of the many variables and natural obstacles involved.

Also he could simply be fruther away then predicted- if hes capable and willing to walk he could have wandered in any direction, who knows at what speed- if he keeps a straight line a hell of a lot of ground can be covered each day. Any and all rescue attempts need to start in the smallest area possible, close to where he most likely fell, not only to increase chances but because of priorities- if he needs medical attention or is stuck its much better the rescuers searching a small area doing more then one sweep then quickly moving on further away. Depending on the place (i bet its a forest nearby) he could also get lost and whatnot- there are good chances hes in a outer ring of the range they're searching (as much as of him being covered by too dense vegetation- where ground searchers have way more chances of finding him then any number of helicopters).

I know its hard but keep your hopes up. Most cases require patience. Keep trying to get in touch and better help, but don't blame then or yourself for not doing better or faster- these things are hard in every scenario. Hope him and you the best

Thanks a lot Vincer for your very valuable reply.

Yes, he is insured. I'm not 100% aware of every detail and I don't want to blame anybody.
You are fully right regarding the weather and how a party can be assembled...
Somewhat, we feel that more could be done, more resources added

At that altitude, weather is vital to rescue efforts. Changes in humidity, temperature, and barometric pressure determine whether a helicopter can even get off the ground. You have prayers from the other side of the world.

Thanks Nask0. The day has brought mixed emotions
While we are very happy for my relative I can't forget about the other person (an Indonesian national, we were told) found in a near place.

In fact this other person's paraglide was thought to belong to my relative. And what seemed to be good news quickly evolved in a corpse and to start searching again.

I've searched but I can't find any news regarding a missing flying Indonesian national in Himalaya.

Edit: Finally, CynicalSteve has "solved" this. The person found was Mr Ng Kok Choong, from Singapur, not Indonesia as we were initially told.

RIP

Hi again Vincer. Yes, you were absolutely right.
You're considerations regarding a 2nd helicopter were being weighed. While I was trying to get more options from nearly based companies , fortunately (and I'd say unexpectely) he was found and positively identified.

BTW, no one of the contacted companies has replied yet any emails
