Your video card is not good and your Ram for decent gaming you need at least 8 giga ram and its best to have either 12 or 16 as for the graphics cards since its gt 740m if i am not mistaken its a laptop you have so you need to search for compability and good cards are rather expensive

if your ram and cpu power is great it may raise your fps value and get the game playable but 20 fps are low it must be frustrating after a while right?

I have a gt 740m and I get constant 32 fps (I locked it) on normal settings. I love this gpu.

My laptop:
i7-3537U 2GHz (max turbo 3.1GHz)
GT 740M 2GDDR3
16GB RAM

and I can run GTA 5 at low-medium quality at about 20 fps.

20 fps?! dafuq

My laptop specs are:
i7-3612QM 2.1 GHz
GT 630M 2GB DDR3
8 GB RAM

and I hit 30 - close to 40 fps easily on low-medium settings. you should get more fps with your specs. try tinkering with the settings man.

Whyt?! I also have
i7-3537U 2GHz (max turbo 3.1GHz)
GT 740M 2GDDR3
(only 8 GB tam though)

It plays fine on my laptop on normal settings with constant 32 fps O.o

I may be crazy but what can cause that? (I don't have GTA V yet, but I saw people with my exact same laptop build playing it on med settings at great fps). I have an ASUS ROG G74SX. 740m seems much better than my 560m,
