Okay, so first off, i know there is already a discussion on this topic with a poll, however it was posted 5 days ago, after only a couple days with the change, so i thought now after a week, people should have a better idea of how and if it affects them.
This Is not the place to discuss the change, merely a place to vote in the poll. If you want to discuss it, please do so on the main Discussion posted by cg.

If you do vote, please bump this, maybe with a funny GIF? we all need to laugh instead of being so serious.

Do you like the changes to the Points System?

Yep, it improves the quality of the site.
Nope, it ruins the site and my chances.
I don't care.

This thread has too many cutesy GIFs, can you imagine people's faces if they saw you doing this at a soda bar?

Now that the influx of Humble Monthly GAs has started to dwindle, I have once again half a million points that I don't know what to do with. So basically nothing has changed (of course it's only based on my personal experience, but everyone knows it's overwhelming scientific evidence), it was just another storm in a teacup, and obviously people preferred to bitch about it rather than drink the tea.

(I don't have a personal stack of gifs like most SG seems to, so I'll post that pic instead.)

CG didn't put these changes into place for everyone to "like them."
He put them into place to combat ongoing issues on the site. Can't win for losing, it seems.

Having said that, and despite it, I like the changes. I can still enter beaucoup giveaways and I have to be a little selective about what I enter.

it would make me feel better to have more points, but I really couldn't be bothered.

I think it's an improvement, although further improvements are possible. Auto-join scripts won't be running rampant now (at least not as much as before).

I used to hate it but I actually liked it now. It makes me think on what game I would really like to play now and not just to hoard for the future.

I hit level 2 a couple days before this change happened, so I can't say whether or not I win more or less given my increased wins could be explained by either.

That being said, I feel like I always have points now because I don't have to check as often. I like that for its own reasons.

I don't like it, but I don't think it ruins the site or my chances (I'm pretty sure they're improved - but mostly because I changed the way I use the site)
But if I want to enter the GA for the games I want (which are only from my wishlist/sometimes recommended tab - my wishlist has "only" 103 games/DLCs), it becomes work, as I have to check the site more often than before. Especially right now, where there's the Borderlands DLCs that pop up constantly and that I'm trying to get.
So I don't have any point in stock, and I'm not ahead like I was before (before I could spend days without entering any GA, because I had several days of GA already entered). Now 90% of my entries end today and my wishlist tab displays 70 GAs waiting to be entered.
I have to ignore some games, and come back every hour to spend the points.
And now I have an Excel file with the Invite only GA links from the forums, and sorted by end date, because I don't have the points to enter them as they're published.
And I stopped moving my points from low chances GA to higher chances GA, because it was too much work.

Agreed that I don't HAVE to do all of that. But if I want to use the site as designed (entering for the games I want and have the highest chance to win), that's the best way.

My main problem is not really about the number of points, but more about the fact that it's fixed.
When the Borderlands/Monthly GA will end, I'll probably sit on a good amount of points, until another bundle has a few games I'd like to play, and then I'll struggle again. So, why not keeping a system like that, but maybe have a threshold and if the quantity of GA created is above that, define another amount of points each 15mn ? I'd just really like something that scales a bit when a big bundle is released.

i love it. this is why:

  • fewer wins will go to bots since they can't use more points than a human user
  • reduces chances of winning for "active users" since wins will be evenly distributed amongst everyone (hey people! this is why you can't win as much as before, let someone else get a cut of sg too)
  • no more spamming entries for everything, reduces users entering to idle or +1 library

and finally, it improves MY chances to win. since i barely enter any giveaways, at least now i can get a relatively high change at getting a nice game which won't end up idled in my account.

cg won't roll back because the previous system was broken. this is a fix.

I say everyone only gets 1 point a day, then after two months they can try entering a single 60 point giveaway. Odds of winning would always be amazing :p

Of course, if you lost...

It gives me less incentive to visit the site. I have 7,200 games blocked with 200+ games in my wishlist so I never had an issue entering giveaways for games I didn't want. Now though I feel restricted to fewer giveaways. Additionally, it feels like the number of entries are still as high as usual so I haven't seen much of a positive change.

Highly rated games gather as many entries as before since they will enter as always. But I feel other kinds of games give more chances to win than before. You can try luck on games that are low rated/niche/so popular that everyone owns/bundled many times.

i don't know much. but if what cg said is true and it reduces the amount of bots entering giveaways, if accounts using bots get banned and there is no significant huge new waves of users getting on the website, then that each individual gets more chances at winning games despite having fewer points to spend due to the decrease in bot entries would be a possibility

The new system didn't change much of my site using habits, just a bit slower to enter giveaways. But getting a fixed amount is certainly more boring than getting random fluctuations.

I don't like it but it don't ruins my chance.

My "Probability of Winning Per Day" is the same as before.
I can still enter all the GA for what i want (and still have 300-500point all the time) so no problem for me but i still don't like this change.

If it gives bots less entries, sure. I enter only when I know i will play given game. So I enter well know titles everyone enters. I compared number of entries in giveaways I enter before and after the change. Not much changed. Maybe 100-300 less entries. I still float around 500 points with 3-8 giveaways active at the main page. I think someone who only wants to idle cards from trash games gained most, because more people ignore those giveaways now.

I'm back to entered everything wanted, 500P, so it doesn't really matter for me. I like the direction of less points even when I missed out giveaways because of it. Maybe a bit more would be better, maybe this one is perfect, it's up for cg to decide as he sees more data that we do. I'm just happy for the site existing no matter how point regeneration goes, as long as it won't be turned into some pay to win/freemium service.
