Hey all, hope someone can help.
On one of my giveaways i stated that i would add the winner on steam so that i could send them the indiegala link on steam chat, however the winner of one of these giveaways didn't accept my invitation and when i try to send another it says Error adding friend. Please try again.
Has he blocked me? and if so, what do i do now?

Edit : Seems he has made no giveaways yet, so that option is out. I may try and send him an email though. Thanks for the info guys.

Have you tried leaving a message on one of their old giveaways?

je just rejected your friend request. you can't add someone twice within a short time. you could try later. and i would suggest you change your giveaway description (tell him he should add you or something).

wait 7 days, try again, if same problem, request reroll. not much else you can do UNLESS you want to track down a giveaway or post from the winner, and use it to reply to the guy (essentially this sites version of a PM), telling him who you are, and why you added him, and ask him to unblock you.

if you feel generous, try to find a comment or giveaway by that guy and reply there so he gets a notification.

if not, wait 7 days and send a reroll request with proof of you trying to contact the winner on steam.

Not if it's been re-rolled. He/she will probably never know...

If it's a link, why not just email it?

They don't always answer their email (if the one they have listed is even valid anymore, that is). I had a giveaway a while back that had the winner deny my friend request twice (I also got the error, but after some time I was able to send another request). I also posted a message in the giveaway itself, and sent the winner TWO emails.

Never got a reply, so after the 7 days were over, I requested a reroll. I had to post proof to Support that I did attempt to contact him (so that if he tried to complain, they could show him what's what), but that was easy enough and the request was granted very quickly.

Email should always be preferred. Some users automatically decline all friend requests, mostly because of bad experiences with it.

For instance, I never got one game that I won because the sender couldn't figure out how the Steam chat works. It's a pointless hassle, when simple email would work much better.

And if their email actually isn't valid... well, they're going to miss out on a lot of GAs. Which is their own fault.

All my giveaways (except two, as they were extra keys given to me by a friend) are Steam gifts, so the winner has to accept a friend request. I also state this in all of my giveaways, so they don't really have anyone to blame but themselves if they entered without reading the description.

That being said, if I don't get a reply in a couple of days I will send them an email, if they have one available. I will try every avenue available to me to get the winner his gift.:)

I've always sent my Steam gifts directly to the winners' email. No friend requests required.

That sounds like a viable method, but I prefer just doing the friend request method. Out of 101 giveaways, I've only had the one problem. I've been lucky in that regard.:)

Not to mention I've got some new friends from it.:)

For some reason some of the steam emails don't come through on my email. I've had to arrange using the friend method.

Expect a long wait from me, especially if you don't clarify the communication method, as I don't use email normally. Flip side, I always read descriptions, so if someone says they'll add me on steam..

Fact is, this isn't about the communication method, the preference/utility of which differs person to person, but of the winner 1. not giving a damn about reading descriptions (ie, your typical autojoiner), or 2. not making the sg connection and not having logged in to see the win, and simply having been rash in their action.

Not much to do about that- the latter is the equivalent of deleting your e-mail because it looks suspicious, or because it got spam filtered and they didn't check before emptying.

I had this happen once. Person turned down my friend request twice. After seven days passed, I took a picture of me trying to friend said user and I was allowed a reroll.
