if you meant no/small impact on amazon, ok. but this should impact who's selling the exact same, say, PC, but only payment option he has is by cash.

Ah be', certo, non impatterà Amazon, ma ad Amazon frega solo di Amazon.

This is neat, but hardly a new thing, they're not reinventing the wheel, a lot of online stores already offer the option to pay in installments with little or no interest. It makes sense, it's a sound business strategy, gaming computers are expensive, not everyone has the means to buy a 2.000$ or more PC in one go, as they have living expenses to contend with, but with 400 / 500$ a month, it gets a lot more affordable, it allows the store to target and reach a larger customer base.

Having debt is not ideal, especially for what many people would regard as superficial spending, but the fact that it can be payed off in a very short term makes it worthwhile.

The article says "big ticket items" so does it also apply to other things like consoles and TVs?

I'm not sure how many people would buy a complete $2k PC as their first PC, but anyone who knows a bit about screwdrivers would be able to upgrade their PC in parts if they didn't have the money upfront for the whole set, which is what I did. I think I've already seen installment payments at local computer shops however so amazon doing the same thing is only mildly interesting. Personally, I would only buy online shops+shipping as a last resort, electronics can be fragile and a hassle to exchange online if anything does go wrong.
