I don't think there's a way to use Steamgifts search function to do what you want. But NameBadge has you on the right track. in terms of using Google to do it. If you recall a specific word you can narrow it down more (just tack on a +word at the end of the link

I've typed in the search bar, the author of the latest message to me. search comes up with nothing.
a few words of their latest message though, that works!
is there any way to search for the author's name as well.
i don't wanna scroll back 50+ pages of messages to find that one message from the person months ago that i can't remember at the moment. / not ask the person the same question twice. (in my case its usually where is your character\picture from? manga, anime fanart etc etc)
