Indiana Jones and The last crusade( plus the previous two movies)
Just as good as I remember :D

Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht (English title Nosferatu the Vampyre) (1979)
A Werner Herzog remake of the 1922 silent classic. It was pretty good, super creepy atmosphere, Klaus Kinski was superb as Count Dracula. Although I was disappointed slightly that they used the Bram Stoker names in the end, I expected them to keep the 1922 changed names, like Count Orlok instead of Dracula. Also, the ending was changed and I don't know how to feel about it. Would still recommend it.

Ready or Not (2019)
American horror comedy film. Rewatched this yesterday. It's about a young bride who is hunted by her spouse's wealthy family as part of a wedding night ritual to worship the Devil. It's still very good and especially Samara Weaving is great in it. It has just the right amount of gore and humour. I like it and can definitely recommend it.

Night of the Lepus. Great B horror movie. Highly recommend for a laugh.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978)
American historical comedy film. It's about a group of teenagers over the course of one day in New York City as they attempt to gain entry to the Beatles' first live appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. It's very funny and entertaining with good acting and an overall well written script. Funnily enough, the Beatles song that's featured most in this movie is actually She Loves You. And another fun fact about this movie is that you never actually get to really see the Beatles even though sometimes they're in very close proximity to some of our characters. It was also Robert Zemeckis' feature film directorial debut and the first film to be executive-produced by Steven Spielberg. For some reason it didn't do very well when it came out, but I definitely enjoyed it and can very much recommend it.

Un Amor (2023)
Oh man...i didnt expect to like this movie. But i did. I felt for this poor lady and her internal conflict. And that last scene, why did i like it? I cant put into words, perhaps someone with more brain cells could. That last scene was moving and gave some form of solace. I liked it.

Challengers (2024)
First of all, this is an extremely horny movie, one of the most extremely horny movies I've ever seen. At times it's on the level of American Pie and other comedies from the 90s and 00s about horny teenagers, if these comedies were made by extremely talented people for lovers of auteur cinema.
Secondly, this is an awesomely shot and awesomely written extremely horny movie. In just over two hours there is literally not a single unnecessary scene, everything is in its place, everything works for the narrative, the pace is perfectly maintained, and the last ten minutes keep you in suspense no worse than any good thriller. The film does not adhere to any single style in terms of staging scenes and filming: some scenes can literally be cut into static shots, while in others, all the juice is in their dynamics. This could be a problem if this film were in other hands, but Luca Guadagnino is magnificent, so the film does not fall apart into a set of poorly matched scenes. The visuals work for the narrative and complement what is conveyed to us directly, or draw some not very subtle, but not too obvious parallels. That is, there are no scenes in which they play with the camera and editing for the sake of playing with the camera and editing, everything is justified.
The cast is excellent, once again I was convinced that people whining on the internet about how they are sick of this Zendaya and that she is a talentless person with an always the same expression on her face, have not watched anything with her except Spider-Man and maybe Dune.
Amy Pascal's best investment outside of Spider-Verse, the morbillions of dollars in box office revenue from the villainous cinematic universe are well spent. It was a blast to watch.

Regression (2015)
Canadian-Spanish-American psychological thriller mystery film. It's about a detective and a psychoanalyst who uncover evidence of a satanic cult while investigating a young woman's terrifying past. Good cast (Ethan Hawke, David Thewlis, Emma Watson and more). I think this was quite entertaining even though it might not be the most original movie out there. Overall I can recommend it.

Gladiator II (2024)
British-American historical epic action adventure drama film. It's about the son of the main character from the first movie who becomes a prisoner of war and fights as a gladiator for a former slave who plots to overthrow the twin emperors of Rome. The cast is great (Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Matt Lucas, Derek Jacobi and more) delivering very good performances. The story is nothing revolutionary but definitely entertaining and that's what I'd say about the whole movie, too. It's entertaining, but doesn't come anywhere close to the original, even though we do see Russell Crowe's character in flashbacks and we do get some of that iconic soundtrack from the original close to the end of this movie. In retrospect maybe I should've gone to the cinema to see this one, as its action is probably even more fun on the big screen. But it's still very entertaining at home. So if you're looking at this one solely through Gladiator glasses it's of course not as good, but if you're just in the mood for a fun historical popcorn movie I can recommend it.

Same as I did a year ago, here's the list of all 435 movies I watched in 2024. Have fun comparing, exploring or just browsing.

Yeah, that tends to happen with big franchises like that. :D I've done this a few times, actually. In 2021 I watched all the Godzilla movies in January, in 2022 it was James Bond, 2024 was Carry On. I'm sure there are others out there but I'm not always in the mood for a whole month of pretty much the same stuff, I like some variety.

Oh, those movies were a staple in our household growing up. I've already seen them more often than I can remember. :D But thanks for the recommendation. And a happy new year to you, too. :)

And just like that you already got over 100 movies on your own list. Well, good luck on your movie journey this year. Already looking forward to reading what you'll watch.

I'll be using your recommendations a lot so I'm sure we'll exchange on movies anyway.
I also started this year something I had planned on doing a while ago and I am watching a Chaplin short every day. When I'm done with those, I'll probably move on to Buster Keaton or Laurel & Hardy.

Nice. On the subject of Chaplin shorts, I've watched Mabel at the Wheel (1914) a few months ago and it was one of Chaplin's earliest. Definitely worth checking out.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
American psychological drama film. It's about four characters affected by drug addiction and how it alters their physical and emotional states. Great performances all around from a very good cast (Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, Ellen Burstyn, Marlon Wayans, Christopher McDonald, Mark Margolis, Keith David, Dylan Baker and more). Overall I think this is a great, yet very heavy-hitting movie. And the way it's shot and edited is perfect for what it is. I can highly recommend it.

The Wild Robot (2024)
American animated science fiction adventure film. It's about a service robot shipwrecked on an uninhabited island who must adapt to her surroundings, build relationships with the local wildlife, and become the adoptive mother of an orphaned goose. The animation is incredible, the story is good, all around a beautiful movie. If you or anyone you know has kids and they haven't already seen this one, they need to watch it asap. And even if you don't this is still a great movie. Maybe the best animated movie of the year and a very strong Oscar contender. Highly recommended.

Charly (1968)
American science fiction drama film. It's about an intellectually disabled adult who is selected by two doctors to undergo a surgical procedure that triples his IQ as it had done for a laboratory mouse that underwent the same procedure. It's actually based on Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, which I'm only familiar with by name, I haven't actually read it. But some of you might've and to those I can especially recommend it. But even if you're not familiar with the short story (1958) and subsequent novel (1966) it's based on, it is very good. Cliff Robertson (who most people my age might know primarly as Uncle Ben in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies) plays the main character surprisingly subtly, not what you'd expect from a movie from the 60s. To be fair, he did also win Best Actor at the Oscar for that performance and watching him, it was definitely merited. Overall I think this is a very good movie with a decent story (nothing unheard of, but still well executed) and I can definitely recommend it.

If you like the movie, you really should read the book. It's a very short read and it provides so much more insight into Charlie's evolving and devolving perspective into his journey and that of Algernon's, which I felt the movie was lacking.

Gladiator 2
Pretty good if highly inaccurate. My only real gripe is they took events spanning over 200 years and cobbled them all together. That is to say all of the characters including Jurgutha were real but they lived and died decades or even centuries apart, not during a small span like depicted in the movie.

Nosferatu 2024
VERY good movie. A good remake of the original 1922 Nosferatu with a few big names in it who did phenomenal performances.
Fun fact - the movie was actually shot on film, not digital.

Wicked Little Letters (2023)
British black comedy mystery film. It's about an investigation into the anonymous author of numerous crudely insulting letters sent to the residents of a British seaside town in the 1920s. It's decent. Nothing that'll live long in the memory but for what it is, it's well done. And surprisingly it's actually based on real events. So yeah, overall it's good but maybe not quite as good as some other similar movies. Still, it has a good cast (Jessie Buckley, Olivia Colman, Timothy Spall and more), so I can recommend it if you want to watch something simple.

Finally watched it (I was waiting for my nephews to visit) and we had a blast!
It was like a good old episode of W&G but double! I didn't even realize it wasn't 30 mn long until the credits rolled. They sure packed it with goodies.
The kids missed out on a lot of things ofc but I loved all the little references and winks here and there from James Bond and Shawshank to the Matrix, and everything in between like African Queen, Hot Fuzz and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
The plot flowed nicely into the hilarious narrow boat chase at the end!
I have now watched the trailer and wtf were they thinking?? They are spoiling everything but the location of the blue diamond in the teapot!

Troll (2022)
Norwegian fantasy action adventure drama thriller film. It's about a ragtag group of people who must come together to stop an ancient troll that was awakened in a Norwegian mountain and prevent it from wreaking havoc. Rewatched this yesterday and it's still very entertaining. I do however prefer another Norwegian movie about trolls called Trollhunter (2010), maybe because that one's focused more on mythology and and less on action. Still, I can recommend this one, too. And I've heard they're making a sequel, so I'm looking forward to that.

Here we go, I'll start.
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10
