OnePlay has recently bought the Desura and Royale assets.
They are working hard behind the scenes to relaunch the indie gaming platform

http://www.indieroyale.com/

From their site:

  1. Who are you guys (OnePlay)?
OnePlay started up in its current format back in 2008, where we sold pc games, and had a physical rental business. We’ve since continued our sale of PC games, but substituted the physical rental with a digital model, the OnePlay VIP Subscription where users can download and play 2.000+ games for a fixed monthly fee.

  2. So what happened to Desura, IndieRoyale and DailyRoyale?
Last year the company behind the sites, Bad Juju Games, unfortunately went bankrupt. OnePlay bought the websites this fall and we are excited to relaunch your favorite indie sites soon.

  3. When will Desura / Indie Royale / Daily Royale be back online?
We are aiming to be back up and running in the first quarter in 2017. We are building an all new platform for our websites, to better serve you.
Excited? We are, so keep checking the updates here, via newsletter or on our social media.

  4. What is going to happen to my Desura account?
We are working hard to try to get your old Desura account back alive, but will let you know if we fail to do so.

  5. Will I be able to access all my old games, that I have purchased on Desura previously?
Our first priority is to get you access to already owned games from the old Desura platform, but we currently don’t have a timeline for making it happen. Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest news.

  6. Will Desura and OnePlay run as separate websites?
Yes, Desura and OnePlay will continue to run as separate individual sites. although overlapping campaigns, competitions etc. might/will occur.

  7. What will happen to IndieRoyale and DailyRoyale?
IndieRoyale will continue to have awesome indie game bundles on a week to week basis. DailyRoyale will feature one great game daily at a massive discount.

IndieRoyale as a name coming back doesn't tell us anything about the kind of bundle site it will be, since the people previously running it are gone. It could be something similar to the old site, with some unique and interesting deals, or it could be a clone of existing sites that just rebundle a lot of junk and repeats. We have no way of knowing.

this is a half cup situation, you are being pessimistic, we just cant conclude anything due to the lack of information

BUT, they did say that they will be doing things as the last guys did, so... not bad? (yeah i know it might be a lie/BS)

I mean, it might be good, so it might as well come back. Even the worst sites have a good bundle once in a while.

The poll is missing "I don't care either way". It's not that I don't want them to come back so I don't want to vote "no", but I personally don't want/need them so I can't vote "yes". Yet I wanted to click on a vote button because it's fun.

We'll see. When I judge them based on http://www.oneplay.com/, I'm not too impressed. Their VIP package doesn't seem to be great and their store displays prices only in DKK. So they might have some years of experience, but they still seem tiny.

Good thing / great news for previous desura player base I think.

For indie royale coming back to indie bundle store scene, I think it is a bit overcrowded for them to make money. All bundles get rebundled from one to other sites already.
Unless they start to publish themselves some games / act as publisher for some indies.

EDIT : Thank for info between !
Only good news for us anyway ^^

Good news for players like me who had games on Desura.

When I heard about Bad Juju issues I downloaded all my games that had no Steam key (some Desura games also had Steam keys so no problem for those games) to be sure to be able to play them in offline mode at least. All those which were also available DRM-free I downloaded them separately too.

Problem : when my hard drive will be done, I won't be able to re-download my games that require the Desura client to be played... Same if I want to change my computer. If those guys managed to make the games already purchased on Desura available, either with former Desura client or with their own new client, then I can only be happy with this info. :-)

Regarding the bundle royale/indie royale thing, well, the more bundle sites the better.

Fuck. I was hoping that it would stay dead so peeps can finally take those useless Desura keys off their trade threads -.-.

If they can make decent bundles, then sure. Otherwise, /shrug.
