I actually have that, almost forgot. I recall that Bioshock was inspired by System shock, too.

I've heard that Mafia 2 is particularly the best in the series(Unless I'm getting very confused here), is it worth it to get the first one, or is it just not as notable as the second? Is Mafia 2 a sequel to Mafia 1?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes it's a sequel, but it only has one minor connection (which is pretty damn awesome though). All characters are new. I think you got that wrong, Mafia 1 is the better game, might be a bit old nowadays though. Just keep in mind that you can't get the game on Steam, because of some license issues.

The price would probably be worth it. You pay for what you get, right?(Then again, it IS Ebay)

Well I remeber I use to play Mafia 1 on ps2 and it was on 2 cds if remeber right... I didnt like the game because it was too hard for me to understand I was quite young back then I think it was like 10 years ago. Everyone back then said it was great game.

Honestly the only thing I remember about playing Mafia 1 was driving the Crazy Horse and driving into the water

Yep, the Deus Ex games are a nice parallel to System Shock 2.
Infinity Runner, is a new game that looks like a more kinetic version of System Shock 2.
The newer Bionic Commando games are also comparable to the experience of FPS shooting that System Shock 2 was.

The original Deus Ex was one of those games that made me rethink how I viewed video games. It blew my mind! A FPS with skill trees, open levels, and branching dialogue/storylines?! And I've been a longtime fan of sci-fi, so the setting was perfect.

Gameplay style or visual style ? If going for visual style, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified does the 60's really well. (And you can get it for a dollar in the current Humble 2K bundle)

Honestly, kind of both. Fallout, I keep coming back to it for the post-apocalyptic theme yet their culture is based off of the 50s-ish. Lore-wise, it's because they found that stuff post-war but... I digress. It's kind of a mix. I can do just about anything but specifically Bioshock had a good way of making the FPS not-so-generic. SS2 as mentioned up above had a really good survival feel to it. Fallout in general just has a wasteland survivor feel to it as seen in FO1/2 (IMO)perfectly.

Dishonored and Deus Ex is what comes to my mind. You can search Retro/Classic games, I know in the main "Masterpiece" tag you can click to see Classic games under there as well.

I didn't check the retro/classic tags because I thought it was retro/classic in regards to video game history. I'll still take a look, though.

Looking at your avatar, I wonder if the poster would be interested in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (EE) or Baldurs Gate II: EE?
And how about the free Steam game Neverwinter: Curse of Icewind Dale?
Comment has been collapsed.
I have the first one, I've got the second one on my wishlist, but I'm kind of saving it for later, I was going to play with a friend.

I have updated my earlier post to include the free Neverwinter: Curse of Icewind Dale, which uses Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) rules. I hope this is the kind of game you wanted.
Also, I wished the game's namesakes Icewind Dale 1 & 2 -- seen as inferior clones of the Baldur's Gate games -- were released on Steam, or, better yet, the critically acclaimed Planescape: Torment.

Yes, but I am sure that both of us would prefer an officially updated Icewind Dale on Steam, with features that mods cannot match. I know for sure that GOG is the best for classic games dating back to the early 80s till today, this to anyone wishing to play the vanilla version of Icewind Dale, with full compatibility with modern OS (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc...)

Also, Call of Juarez if you enjoy the Wild West. Except Call of Juarez: the Cartel, which is set in present-day (and judging by the reviews, is sub-standard compared to the rest of the series to boot)

Just throwing random games out there from the top of my head:
Bastion
Recettear: An Item Shop's tale
Amnesia
Guns of Icarus online
Oddworld: Stranger's wrath
Dreamfall
Arx Fatalis
Divinity: Dragon Commander

LA Noire had a great 40s/50s Noire feel to it. Excellent soundtrack and loads of classic vehicles. Although it looks like a sandbox game, it really isn't, but its still a really good game. Loads better than Mafia II, which I found to be terrible.

Try Arcanum, man. It's a steampunk rpg game, with its complexity comparabale to Fallout [no wonder, cause it was made by bunch of the fallout creators e.g. Tim Cain]. Sadly, it's not on steam, but you can get it on gog.com ;)

As for a parallel to the Fallout games. Check out Underrail.
If you liked the turn based nature of Fallout 1/2, you might be interested in the original X-COM collection or the clones - UFO aftermath/aftershock/afterlight games.

If you meant visual style, the term you're looking for is "Retro-Futuristic" or "Steampunk".

Arcanum, not on steam but can be bought on gog.com
The last express
Harvester takes place in kinda like 50s town

( I'm so happy so many players advised Arcanum - that was one of my first RPGs, and it has a special place in my heart :) )
To suggest something:
Neo Scavenger. It's a new game, currently in early access v0.9-ish - it's developed well, absolutely playeable, updates come every 2ish weeks. Even though being new, it's a minimalistic game, graphics on/sub-par of Fallout (on the the map screen. Inventory and item are nicely drawn). It's actually a survival-scavenging simulator type of game, with highly tactic combat. It has a deep system for inventory (I LOVE this one), energy, temperature, health and overall well-being (you can get sick in various way, catch diseases, or became poisoned). It's a true hidden gem, and you can try out it's free demo (available at it's steam page) too.

Arcanum is am must if you liked the old fallout ( tactics is my favourite in the whole serie )

Yeah, I'm a HUGE fan of the Fallout series and that's specifically regarding FO1/2, Bioshock is another favourite of mine even though I've only played the first and a little bit of the second(blame GFWL). I'm not sure where to look in regards to a tag on Steam, or anywhere else, so I thought I'd ask here. Any games that are similar to these games in regards to... The style, I guess?
