I recently started using Steamgift although I have been here for 3 years, and I noticed that many GAs that I entered are removed by "accidents" by the user who created the GA when they have been active for 1 week.

So my point is, do not allow the user to erase your GA if a certain amount of time has elapsed.

For example, if I create a GA where the duration is 1 week, then I am not allowed to delete it if 4 days have passed.

Srry for my english.

What if they use the key in the GA?

What's the problem in such case?

That the keys someone wins would be used already.

That seems to go against the entire point to be able to have your giveaways deleted. I mean, if I were to create a giveaway for a game, then a few days before it ends I activate the key/gift on my account by accident, I'd prefer to delete the giveaway than to give someone false hope when they win.

I'm against such change, the current policy is much better imo. I think this doesn't happen very often.

the ability too remove is there for a reason. And I see personally no reason at all to change this.
In my eyes it would feed the entitlement that some people have towards winning GA's

People give the games for free and get nothing in return.
By changing this part you create road blocks for such people, and this will only lead to the fact that Ga's will be available for a chorter amount of time, because they will stay inside the delete time limit just in case something goes wrong...

Nope ... for 1 obvious reasons ... shit happens .

Its not been an accident when keys from certain site get revoked , or games just flat out get removed from steam and all keys become invalid .

Now imagine you made a giveaway for 1 such game , then for some reason the key you got for it got invalidated for god fucking knows what reason .
So , is that your fault ? you already lose a GA slot just cause you need to delete the giveaway ...
Making it so that you cannot delete the GA would mean you need to buy the game from somewhere else ... what if there is no deal for it ?
Imagine you got Stronghold Crusaders ... its 50$ while the game is arguably worth less then a dollar nowadays

I do see every now and then a giveaway getting deleted , but what did you actually lose from that ?
Some points ? Those come in over time , there is no way you can constantly spend all your points anyway ..

As someone suggested dont look at what you may have had 1 in 1.000 chance to win ...

You have a pretty strong point and I had not considered it, as I am not someone who buys by quantity I am not aware of all the problems that may occur.

To the contrary, the longer a giveaway lasts, the more likely it is the deletion is legitimately due to an accident, rather than just the creator changing their mind about some component of the giveaway.
Whether you lose P within the first 10 minutes of the giveaway being posted, or within the first week, the difference doesn't matter to those that lost P. And unless you're psychic, you won't know which games are going to be deleted, regardless of how long they've been up.

Nevermind that there's no way you could scale that down to cover flash giveaways, so it'd be needless stress on longer ones. You could go for 'no deletions within the last 10 minutes of a giveaway', but given how rarely that likely occurs, and how obsessive or lucky you'd need to be to catch that, it'd likely hurt GA creators more than it'd help entrants.

Losing P happens. Just consider it an automatic non-win in the giveaway in question; you haven't had any result that wasn't predictable to begin with. :P And honestly, if you're that concerned with P, you're likely not being picky enough with the giveaways you enter, anyway. :X

In the end, losing the current setup would risk stress to both winners and creators, while the current setup only offers the loss of some fairly worthless digital currency, that you'd already agreed to put at risk (with expected loss) to begin with.

Sometimes you just need to let little stresses go. :S
