I believe it's actually written on the infobox for redditgifts that the event is mostly about giving and that there's quite a distinct probability that some people will end up not receiving a gift

I understand that. like I said I was just hoping for a little fun of getting something unexpected even if it was crappy from someone that wasn't related or even knew me. :-) doesn't ruin my day just makes me sad that people will join and not give but want to receive

Usually I'd agree, but secret Santa is all about giving and receiving. The fun is in not knowing what you're going to get(usually a jokey/rubbish present) as well as picking out a similarly awful but good gift.
Anything other than secret Santa I think the don't give to recieve rule applies.
But mainly, c'moooon its Christmas! :D

It's really sad that this happens, but I believe the main theme for redditgifts is to experience the joy of giving. I feel you should take pride in knowing you'll make someone's day very pleasant :)

I hope so. I really hope my giftee likes the time and effort I went into gathering the gifts for him.. and wrapping them :D took me about a good 4 days just to find the stuff! xD

My first year joining RedditGifts and entering into the "huge" Secret Santa giveaway and I already sent my gift out. But, the person who has Me as there match hasn't even viewed my information :(
