Another generic "windows 10 or windows x" thread.

My PC specs :
i5-3230m + intel HD 4000 (the app "get windows 10" says my integrated GPU isn't compatible for some reasons)
GT 720M
4Go DDR3
500Go HDD
900p screen

Here's my library : http://steamcommunity.com/id/Cryotiiik/games/?tab=all
My anti-virus is AVG (free edition)
I don't know if I can play most of my games and keep my anti-virus, if I can't play Dark Souls anymore, I'll be very, very sad (even if I love and hate this game, haha)
If for some reasons, Windows 10 doesn't work, can I go back to my Windows 8.1 ?

What do you think ? ^^

What should I do ?

Go for Windows 10
Keep Windows 8.1
Wait and see

Windows 10 is what Windows 8 should have been in the first place.
There is a rollback, allowing you to go back to your windows 8.1. I have no idea how to do that though.

I'm not sure that's the case. Far as I understand after a month Windows 10 deletes the backup of the previous OS.

If it's a toss-up between 7 and 10, keep 7 for a little while.
If it's 8.x or 10, switch.

Windows 8.1 has... er... usability issues on Desktop computers that are resolved in Windows 10.

Because Win10 is essentially a Win8.1 improved in all areas, and with Metro removed.
But compared to Win7 the changes on UI and how it uses the hardware are quite substantial. It'd like changing from XP to Win7.
Also, Win10 is still new and bound to have some incompatibility issues, but those are mostly will be inherited from 8. So, again, no real reason to stay on Win8.x with Win10 available.

The new driver standard WDDM 2.0 in Windows 10, uses less CPU ressources, so if you are CPU limited, you will get performance increase. Other than that, Windows 10 is essentially an iteration, similar to Windows 8.2, so go ahead and upgrade when you can.

I did the update one hour ago :
-AVG won't work so I'm uninstalling it (then installing it)
-L4D2 won't launch at all
-Waaaaaay faster than windows 8.1. It's the same thing, expect this time, it is working. It doesn't use 100% of my HDD 24 hours/day.

Edit :
-Windows 10 DOESN'T need compatibility mode unlike this crappy windows 8.1, so my game won't launch because of this. And now it's smooth, it was at 30 fps before, now it's more like 45-60 !
